Ordered a coffee. Got a coffee. Paid what I expected to pay for a coffee. This is unlike the Bourbon Pub in my aforementioned review about the $50 salad.

Some of the best Italian food to be found anywhere in San Francisco...

Ordering Gary Rulli chocolates is ridiculously impossible. They only seem to be available at SFO Terminal 1. When bought there, they come with a card that shows a non-existent website. The website that does exists shows chocolates that can be ordered but it doesn’t work. I’ve purchased the chocolates at SFO twice and they’re amazing. But it’s not worth buying a plane ticket just to get them. You either sell chocolates or you don’t. Make up your freaking mind.

It was horrible service, the waiter said he heard something else while we ordered something else, he still charged us for it. The spaghetti was undercooked, they still charged us for the dish while we ordered another one. Will never return nor do we reccomend this place.

I live in the Marina and I’ve been to this place on and off since they first opened years ago and I just cannot recommend it. A very simple plate of spaghetti with clams was $29 plus the extra 5% fake surcharge brought it up to $30.50 before tip or tax. Very small portion for the price. A draft beer is eight dollars and served in a tiny glass, I think it had to be about 10 ounce at best. The spaghetti with clams was nothing special and was over spiced. Made by a cook, not a chef. Stay away.

Place recently reopened. Went there for the last 2 weeks. Amazing drinks and appetizers. Liked mains and loved dessert. The owner and stuff are super friendly

Tldr; it was BAD, I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my entire life and the food was awful. If I could erase this from my memory I would. We went there for Valentine's Day and had a reservation for 7pm that we'd booked about a week in advance. We showed up on time to a massive line of folks who also had reservations. This was the first of many bad signs. We somehow were lucky enough to be seated and were told the kitchen was on a 20 minute hold, which we were fine with. An hour later, we still had nothing more than water. This was a blessing as the tables next to us who had been there the same amount of time did not even have water. The poor waiter was clearly stressed and had zero control over the situation. There were plates showing up to multiple empty tables 1.5 hours after the people had stormed off out of pure frustration. No one could order food. We sat there for THREE HOURS without food. The worst part was walking inside, where everyone else was happily eating and drinking because management was allowing the indoor customers to receive their food and not the outdoor tables. Eventually after about 2.5 hours our server literally just grabbed plates that weren't ours and started giving them to us so we had some food. That was extremely sweet and I would have done the same. The food was nasty; it was undercooked and the saltiest thing I've ever consumed at a restaurant. This is the worst I've ever been treated and the worst I've ever seen other patrons treated. Pure negligence on the part of management and I feel awful for the people who have to work under such poor management. Not once did the manager come out and speak with us or offer us drinks (not even WATER) as we waited it out. He didn't try to alleviate the situation for our poor server at all. At one point he came out and cleared a plate for the table next to us (the one plate they got all night, their other food was given to another table a few hours later) and made a statement that it wasn't his job but he was doing it for us. What a joke. The managers job is to support their staff and their customers and ensure the business runs well. That includes getting your hands dirty and seeing what you can do to keep a table happy when your servers cant control ticket times. That manager deserves JAIL for the job he did last night. This brings me to the angry drunk man who was waiting in line. To be fair, homie had been standing waiting for his reservation for about an hour before he popped. The restaurant was not managing the ever-growing line outside and this man was harassing folks in an attempt to ensure they were not sat ahead of him. A well managed restaurant would not have left customers to deal with a threatening, angry and scary man on their own. They literally just ignored it and left us all to deal with this guy who wanted to start a fight soooo bad. The only point at which they decided to try to do something was by the time he was emboldened enough to start harassing the indoor customers, who we have already established were apparently considered much more important than those of us seated outside. It was to the point where I had to call 911 because the man was trying to fight the server who was just trying to de-escalate and have the man walk home. Absolutely unacceptable that management did not handle the situation and left patrons feeling really threatened. All in all, this was the worst Valentine's Day I've ever had and it was thanks to this establishment. I did not know the bar could be so low. It is a joke that they're even in business. Our server was amazing and was doing the best they could do, management was HORRIBLE. By the way, the meal was supposed to be $85 + $35 wine pairing per person. What a joke. You can go to Empress by Boon for the same price and actually be served the meal and be treated like a human. What a concept!!

This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a TripAdvisor review for a reason: I would give this place negative stars if I could. Worst Valentine's Day experience ever. We had made a reservation a week earlier, showed up 10 minutes early to our reservation time, then ended up waiting an hour for our table before learning they couldn't honor our reservation because they were too backed up. I could understand that sometimes things get out of hand, but this was handled as poorly as possible. The wait staff was totally overwhelmed and extremely unhelpful (they pretended to take our name down and get a table ready, then stalled for 45 mins until it became clear they weren't), a drunk customer kept harassing us and the rest of the line while we are waiting, the kitchen was backed up multiple hours, and they dropped our reservation/added a lot of stress to what should have been a nice Valentine's Day dinner...this was a total waste of time and ruined an otherwise nice evening.

Fabulous authentic Italian food and wonderful service. The salumi and cheese antipasti was delicious, as were the pastas. The tagliatelle with wild boar ragu was amazing. The homemade pannetone was an excellent dessert.

So delicious from the appetizers of ravioli and tortellini, amazing steak, chicory contorni. That cheesecake was AMAZING, I can still taste it. Great service. And fantastic ambience. Will return!

I loved you, Emporio Rulli... please come back to Chestnut St. - the other coffee houses f'ing suck!!! Your pastries and sandwiches were divine, your waiters & baristas amazing, and the half-price espresso specials that brought me in there were 10x better than the crap you can get at Peet's or Starbucks for twice the price. I feel like a little part of me has died...

I went passed Emporio Rulli Gran Caffe on Chestnut Street the other day, everything is all closed up. What happened?
