Well designed ‘gastropub'. Overall the experience was well worth our visit. Only recently opened and with a faulty heater (on the coldest day in the City) we enjoyed one of the best Burgers served anywhere. The ‘home brew' alone should make this local establishment very successful. Service was friendly and on point. We will be back!
We love this place: it's off the beaten track (we come from far away Noe Valley), has good grub to satisfy a variety of appetites, friendly service. The autumn greens salad with persimmons, pomegranate and pumpkin seeds was tasty and not over-dressed, as is often the case, and it was enough for four to share, though I always like leaves in smaller bites. We didn't order the Persian cucumbers this time though it's terrific but too spicy for some of our group. The butternut squash gratin with goat cheese, sage, dried cherries and parmesan breadcrumbs appealed to our pickiest eater. It should actually be a main course. The people who ordered burgers loved them; one of our group only eats a burger once or twice at year – here. I loved the chicken Milanese, and I reluctantly shared bites with others. It was a large cutlet sort of thing that reminded me of my midwestern childhood. I wish the flatbread that they used to have with potatoes could be brought back instead of with mushrooms. We went on the early evening side and the place seemed family friendly and accommodating.
I love coming to 50 Vara. It's a neighborhood gem, but also a destination restaurant if you live outside of the Sunset. It's nice to have an elevated experience on SF's Westside. The space is gorgeous, the food is fantastic and the service is impeccable.
Been wanting to try this place since they opened. Great place for the neighborhood. Service was great and so was the food. They did a nice job upgrading. Standouts we had were the shrimp, burger and salads. Will be a regular spot for us.
We had pan-seared salmon with lentils, grilled flank steak, little gem Caesar, and vanilla Panna cotta. All excellent, as was the service.
What a great place! Everything was delicious. The calamari batter was crispy, flaky and not oily. The mushroom flatbread was excellent with a great crust. The chicken sandwich batter was also really good. We also had the burger, garlic fries and desserts. Everything was delicious. Staff was friendly. Will definitely be back!

This was a new find for my friends and I. The service was superb, the menu was small, but very flavorful, music was at the right level and the restaurant itself is beautifully done! I will be returning for sure! Mahalo for the experience!
Solid variety of food and drink offerings, with everything came out very well prepared. The calamari was very tender, unlike many other spots. The salads were good sized with plenty of toppings, and the new autumn salad was especially tasty with blue cheese, persimmons, nuts and other ingredients. Really enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich with medium spice and juicy chicken breast. They did a great job with the feel of the place and love the tall ceilings and overall look. Definitely will go back soon, and I assume it is popular in the neighborhood.
Vara Burger is absolutely mind-blowing!
Finally, something fresh and exciting among all the usual fast-food spots.
The dishes burst with a firework of flavors, and the presentation is excellent.
I’m not easily impressed by beer — but they managed to surprise me!
A special shout-out to the staff, especially our server Mari. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
And the interior? A solid 5 out of 5.
Highly recommended!

Great food and beer selection. The ambiance is much improved since my last visit, with plants and other decor.

I love the renovation! Everything tasted great and the vibe was so chill. Excellent service.
Was exited to try a new spot in our neighborhood. Unfortunately not a great experience and the menu / food was meh. The host who was also our waiter was not very hospitable. Despite being able to purchase sourdough bread, they would not let us substitute to a breakfast sandwich on served on a brioche bun with sourdough bread. They were out of one of the items the waiter recommended we ordered. Seems you should know that before recommending food. His attitude was friendly, but also came off as controlling. Not an experience that makes me die to come back.
Food very good. Really enjoy cats burger, baked goat cheese, Persian cucumbers, herb garlic fries!!!!! Delicious!

The first time we visited it was great. The we called ahead to see if we could watch the cowboys game and asked beforehand if we could bring our service dog with us. We have were told yes on the phone. When we arrived we were greeted by an incredibly rude host who questioned us excessively on our medical conditions even though our dog was being very well behaved. Sadly we will never return to this place with or without our dog
