Service was very slow, dinner took over three hours. The server was no where to be seen. Foreign Cinema is one of my favorite restaurants in the city and out of all my visits, this was an anomaly.
Didn't get the outdoor table that I requested and my girlfriend's birthday wasn't acknowledged even though I noted in my reservation.
This is probably the tenth time we have eaten at Foreign Cinema. It's our go-to place for celebrations, special occasions, etc. We have always enjoyed our meals and the entire experience.
Don't let neighborhood bother you. It now is my go to when in SF. Pork chop was to die for.
Exemplary service and great ambience. We love Foreign Cinema especially their kids menu. However today's menu felt sub par with previous experiences — chicken sausage patty seemed overcooked in Eggs Benedict and we missed the usual duck confit — the brunch tostada duck confit wasn't as delicious or easy to eat. Hoping the kitchen brings back some of their usual favorites back.
My friend and I were looking for a girls dinner with my 6 year old and her 5 year old. A place that they would enjoy and we wouldn't have to sacrifice ambiance or quality of food. They were so entertained by being outside, they have a 8 page coloring book with crayons (they knkw what they're doing) and the kids prix fixe menu has 3 nutritious courses. The server suggested our cocktails and they didnt disappoint. We were treated with respect, dignity & kindness. I will be coming back. Thank you
We went for the Peay takeover event. While we enjoyed the wines, we didn't get to speak to the winemaker and it really did not feel especially like any event
Food and vibes are pretty good but feels a bit overpriced.
For starter we ordered a selection of oysters - pretty fresh with a wide selection of source though didn’t tell too much of a difference (lol), and crudo - the sauce has a sour taste to it, super appetizing and blends well with the fish.
For main we ordered the steak - tastes good but pretty standard, and clam pasta with fish roe - savory but a bit on the salty side.
Dessert was pretty sweet.
Our server was super nice. Maybe we went a bit early so didn’t catch the movie.

Josue made there service a 10/10! Very attentive and you can tell he loves his job. He needs to become a lead server if he isn’t already. Great job.
The food was a 10/10 as well, full of flavor. We had the smaller bites but it did the job.
The drinks top notch
The atmosphere is great as well, it’s feels like a high end movie theater with food and great cocktails.

I had booked a table at this restaurant for a very special occasion, Janine had confirmed the reservation for a private dining room. After having gotten confirmation via email, Janine suddenly canceled on our party last minute without giving any explanation. After multiple calls and emails I did not receive any explanation, alternative solution, Or apology from Janine. I really liked this restaurant, but it is a shame how it has lost in service.

A recommendation from another restaurant. So delicious. Went as a walk in when they opened at five. Wow. One of the top ten meals of my life. Great wife selects. Great mains — did the pork chop and the pasta with my date. I’m sending all my friends here

We celebrated a birthday and the service was attentive, but not intrusive. The hostess and server acknowledged the celebration and even got a special dessert. All parties in our group enjoyed the food and drinks. This was our first time to the restaurant but will not be our last.
amazing service! i went for brunch and my favorite was the “pop tart”. it was so fresh and warm! overall, i say try everything and try to go for dinner too because i heard it’s also good! (asked my other friends who have gone for dinner) i will be coming back to try their dinner menu and to bring other friends and family.

The service was a little slow but I was okay because it was a busy Friday nite. The food was delicious. Their menus change frequently and the oysters were fresh and tasty. Be ready to spend a little more but it's well worth it. There's indoor and outdoor seating. When dusk hits outdoor dining transforms into a trip to the past with old movies playing on a bldg wall with those old drive in mobie speaker boxes. I loved it personally. The indoor was tastefully done it felt a bit more upscale. I'll definitely be back.

Carpaccio and halibut crudo for starts, absolutely amazing. Never really think of halibut as a fish for crudo. It was a dish that I will remember for a very long time. Entrees 5 spice duck and waygu bavette. Both were outstanding, I wish I was enjoying them again as I'm writing this.
