A small pleasant restaurant with excellent Tunisian/Mediterranean food. The tagines are excellent as well as some of the more unusual dishes. While not extensive, the wine listing is interesting and well-priced.

This was our first time here. We thought we'd try Tunisian food. We had the deviled eggs with shrimp as an appetizer and it was excellent! I had the stuffed peppers, and hubby had the lamb tagine. We both liked the food, and the sauces, and the bread, and finished almost all of it. We took a couple pieces of the homemade bread home with us because it was so good. We liked this place a lot, and will come again soon.

We were quickly seated and the service was prompt. Food was familiar and different. We had a borek, which is eaten all over the middle east but the borek we had at Gola was different and very tasty. The borek came in a triangular shape and had a sous vide egg yolk inside. Yum. Everything else was quite good: spicy and rich. Prices were middle of the road. The wine we had from Tunisia was just OK but price was good. Very nice experience.

They told us “we would never have let you book” as the place was turning into a nightclub after 8:30pm and they rushed us as a result. A drink was spilled all over me and not even a sorry. Terrible service. Will not be going back.

Gola is a fantastic new addition to SF. The owner gave great personal recommendations and every dish we had was delicious. Good portion sizes, presentation, especially for the prices.
I'd recommend the lamb gola (tagine), the homemade bread, kromb, and we also had the octopus. We'll be back, I don't think you can go wrong with a dish here.
The appetizers and the main course were absolutely delicious! We tried the Tunisian red wines which weren't that great! The dessert at the end was also underwhelming. However the service was phenomenal. And as I mentioned before, the food was something we would definitely come back for.

really good. at first I was afraid that the entrees were too small, but be not afraid I was enormously satisfied by the end.
the waiters also made lots of helpful comments throughout (the flavor is in the skin, eat the lemon in the same bite, etc.)
would definitely come back!
