LOVE this place! Such a great friendly vibe! This was our third trip to San Fran and our third time in the Gold Cane. Mark is literally the perfect bartender. He is so friendly and warm and treated every customer so well. Great drink specials and really great prices!
The atmosphere, the quality of the establishment, the friendly regulars, even the drink prices make the Gold Cane Lounge a neighborhood favorite. I consider it an honor to be a regular here.
Old timer story. Used to hang out here back in the late 80s. I remember on St Patty's day two bartenders were working; Pat and Paul (I think it was Paul). I think Alex the owner was too. Paul was gay and pretty uptight most of the time. The place was packed and Paul was fed up with the drunken crowd so about 6pm he stood up on the bar in the middle of the room, motioned with his arms like he was dividing the room in half and started screaming in his Irish accent "Everybody...
