After a brutal day of business meetings, The Vault Steakhouse was the perfect reward. Parking was effortless with the garage directly underneath – no circling, no stress. The service was outstanding: warm, attentive, and perfectly timed from start to finish. The Tomahawk arrived with a flawless crust and juicy medium-rare center, pure steak perfection. If you want great steak and zero hassle after a long day, this is the place.
The Vault Steakhouse is one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco, hands down. Staff is attentive, service is top-notch and the food is absolutely delicious!
WE ARE 14 STRONG AND FOUND THE VAULT TO BE A VERY COMPELLING EXPERIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMENDED.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We had a party of 12 and we were all comfortable and the service was fantastic. Bravo!
Good service, delicious food. Had a blast with my friends and the lemon drop martini was amazing.
A lovely atmosphere and excellent service, but the food didn't quite live up to the price point. The Vault Steakhouse is a delightful spot once you actually find it — when you enter the building, head downstairs. It's got that moody, special-occasion vibe that feels perfect for a celebratory dinner. The service was truly excellent; every staff member we interacted with was attentive and kind. We were there for Restaurant Week. My husband ordered the Prime Rib, my son had the New York Steak, and I went with the Grilled Salmon. My son's steak was the clear winner — glistening and perfectly cooked, and he said it was delicious. My salmon, unfortunately, was undercooked in the center. I had already eaten about two-thirds of it before realizing, so I mentioned it just to inform the chef, not to make a scene. They apologized, but I was a little surprised nothing was offered as a courtesy adjustment on the bill. Both my husband and son started with the Lobster Bisque, which they loved. The Caesar Salad was fine — nothing special. For dessert, the Chocolate Budino was rich and delicious, while the Pumpkin Cheesecake Pavlova was a pass for me. The cocktails, though, were fantastic — truly the highlight of the evening. Creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. I'd absolutely come back for drinks and maybe small bites at the bar, but not necessarily for a full dinner. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but for the price and reputation, I expected the food to impress a bit more. If you're looking for a beautiful setting and excellent cocktails, this is a great choice.
We've been several times and I always get the whole branzino. Last night, it was saltier than it's been in the past. Still delicious, but I tasted the salt more than the fresh fish. But everything else was perfection. My husband loved his steak, our fries were amazing, the caesar salad they make table side is fun to watch and tastes so good. The special dessert was good, not great. The ambiance here is sexy and classy. The service is top notch. We will keep coming back here.
Excellent staff and excellent food... They could not be more accommodating! You will love it here!
Came to the vault for my gfs birthday, service was amazing our waiter was very friendly. We ordered a tomahawk steak, beef tartare, lobster mac, lobster bisque, lobster dip and potato purée. The steak was amazing 8.5/10, the beef tartare was not the best 5/10, lobster mac was disappointing 5/10 it had a weird plastic after taste for some reason, my gf loved the lobster bisque 8.5/10, the potato puree was decent 7/10 and lobster dip which tasted nothing like lobster dip but like sour cream and onion dip 4/10. I was a little disappointed that for 475$ they didn't provide my gf with a complementary birthday dessert, not that it was expected but most restaurants usually do something but that alone did not ruin our experience.
Friday, 9/5/25: I took myself to a solo birthday dinner after an extremely difficult week. The week really started wear on me through out the evening and it was becoming apparent. (So embarrassing to cry in the middle of the piano lounge btw 0/10 recommend) —the entire team that night met me with such kindness, and empathy. So my BIGGEST shoutout is to the team that was on staff that evening. THANK YOU. And although I could barely eat (sadness took over) what I ordered, what I DID manage to try was tasty. I will definitely go back under happier circumstances just to give those people a hug. I felt cared for as a HUMAN, not a CONSUMER.

This restaurant hit all the high notes! We ordered a filet and a New York strip and shared them. The filet was super tender and the strip was had great flavor. The service was great, they are true professionals! We had some fries and broccoli to with our steaks. Both were great! I'll go back when I'm in SC again.
Very disappointed in this steakhouse, given the rating on OpenTable. 1. They miscooked our steak orders. My companion had ordered hers medium well, and I ordered mine medium rate plus. They reversed the doneness. 2. The focaccia had little inherent taste, and almost tasted old. 3. The ice cream had freezer burn throughout, and I gave up on eating it. 4. I brought up the steak and ice cream issues to the server. Re the steaks, I told her no need to send back the steaks, but to let the kitchen know. Same with the ice cream. The response was "I'll let them know", but no apologies, let alone any gesture. At least comp the partially-eaten ice cream. 5. Front of house had poor communication regarding our table. 6. One stop-by of the server a minute after the food was delivered, and then no visits. Had to ask busboys to ask our server to come by for the dessert menu.
It's all about the steak here. Service is outstanding, very attentive and friendly without being pretentious or overbearing. All of the food is good, but the star of the show is undoubtedly the steak — filet and ribeye — cooked to absolute perfection. Possibly the most impeccably cooked medium rare we've had. I wasn't as crazy about the sauce with to the shrimp cocktail — heavy on the cumin, I think? The Caesar was very nice, shared sides were also quite decent. But nothing matched the true excellence of the steak. If you know that going in, you are in for a real treat. The dining area is somewhat small and a little spartan and modern for my taste, but no major complaint. This place is quite pleasant. But if I had to dock some points — is in a largely empty dining room, they sat a large party of techies on a business meeting immediately next to our table. A group of 20 somethings in t-shirts and shorts discussing at full volume their AI healthcare startup for two hours. Not exactly the best vibe for the price point. Maybe to be expected given the Vault's location, and the restaurant can't be held responsible for their knucklehead patrons. But seating them further away would've been very welcome.
I chose this steakhouse for a friends birthday party. It was a great dinner, everyone loved the food and service.
Worth the price! Beautiful evening with great food, service and warm environment. It was wonderful
