Delicious delicious delicious!!! The pork buns are amazing. The place claims to be the first dim sum in SF which is awesome, the place is really nice and the people running it and serving in it so so sweet!

As a dim sum lover, this place is mid tier at best. The portion they give was hit or miss. Some dim sum has great flavors, and some are questionable.I have myself to blame to come in with a higher expectation due to its reputation. Overall, it's not terrible, but I don't see this location being competitive enough, especially in a city (including oakland) that has tons of better dim sum places.

Had high expectations from Instagram and tik toks but ended up very disappointed. This is definitely not a spot where locals go, portions were small and too expensive, ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice but it ended up way too salty. Chicken feet was also not fresh. 4 small dishes totaled to $55 which is ridiculous considering quality and quantity. The bill also automatically charged a 20% service fee for a party of two?! Service is fine but the tip culture is getting absurd. Better off exploring more hole in the wall restaurants in Chinatown that are more worth your money.

Being the oldest dim sum doesn’t mean the food is good. We were served with frozen dim sum.

Very very very rude staff... every time I've been there... employee at the door directed me to sit down at a table by the window which hadn't been cleared off from the last customer. No problem for me, but another female employee came by and scolded me repeatedly for sitting down at a dirty table. I told her that I was directed to sit at the table by another employee. She continued to attempt to make me wrong... she would not let it go... I walked out and will NEVER return, good food or not...!!!

A little off the beaten path and worth the wait if there is a line. It's been 3 months since we ate there, but my kids still talk about the pork buns.

Supper cool old school Chinese restaurant. We went for the dim sum, it was delicious. We also had some hot and sour soup. Staff was very attentive and courteous. Food came out very quickly, but again we just had dim sum. Highly recommend. Parking is street only.

We came here out of convenience since our vehicle was parked nearby. I love the history part but the food was okay. I usually avoid restrooms in Chinese restaurants but my daughter had to go. The ladies' restroom was really old and looks gross, do not recommend.

The food was solid, but definitely not worth the price. Experience was lackluster as well.Food was quite pricey (7-8 per dim sum item) plus a 15% mandatory service fee. Service took way long time. It took 30-40 minutes to bring out 4 small dim sum items after ordering. Ordering was through a QR code.Food was fine, but experience and price not worth it. There are definitely places in China town that are either way cheaper, or have better service.

I was wandering around looking for a dim sum place. I saw the sign saying this is America's oldest dim sum house, so I had to try it. The food was quite good, and the service was prompt. The menu is short and was missing some dim sum staples, but what they had was great. The prices were reasonable. The ambiance reflects the age of the place. I'd certainly go here again.

Came here on Lunar New Year and it was really busy. Ordered lots of Dim Sum and it was good. The egg yolk buns were really good and so were the soup dumplings. I wish the pan fried pork ones were bigger though. Service was slow, we had to ask for the tea we ordered, ask for sauce, and the check. High price point given slow service, mom&pop shop ambience and smaller serving sizes. Another good Dim sum option is City View.

If you like vintage 1920's things like I do, this is worth a visit. This place is the earliest known dim sum parlor in San Francisco. The young servers zoomed around and randomly blasted boppy Chinese pop loudly during dinner service. Definitely mix the soy and their hot chili oil to dip.

Good dim sum. Comparable to Hong Kong, though the chicken feet were average. The Sichuan dumplings were a nice surprise. Milk tea good too.

We've been to Hang Au Tea Room many, many times over the years, and it has always been consistently excellent in terms of dim sum served, service and atmosphere. The shrimp dumplings were outstanding today! We've tried dim sum in several other places in Chinatown in San Francisco, and this place is clearly the best.
