This is a great value, and a relaxing dining experience tucked away in a dingy alley downtown. There are some a la carte appetizers, but dinner is prix fixe - a "set" that is centered around a protein (beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian) but comes with about 6-7 dishes total, including dessert. Regular set is $25; specials are $38. We ordered an appetizer to start, which was SO GOOD (brussell sprouts and pork belly), but there is so much food is in the set meal we were really stuffed. Good selection of nonalc bevvies, wines by the glass, but only one beer (Singha!). Room is really lovely oasis in an otherwise dingy alley downtown. Service was a little rushed - seems to be just their standard approach -- which is great if you are trying to get in an out but if you want to not feel pushed out suggest you be very clear about not wanting everything on top of each other, eg, they brought out our main set almost immediately after the appetizer, and the dessert while we were still eating dinner (?) - I actually told them to take the dessert back and serve after we were completely done with dinner.

Dinner for 12. - Ambiance (5*) High ceilings, modern finishes, and spacious layout. - Service (5*) Professional and pretty fast. A very regular cadence with drinks, appetizers, and meals. - 5pc Chicken Satay, $10 (4*) The chicken was a tad dry. The sauce was really, really good though. - Crispy Pork Belly, $18 (5*) Brussels cooked perfectly. And the crispy pork belly was sweet and savory. I found myself literally sucking on it to enjoy the flavor. Not just your ordinary brussels and bacon that's for sure. - Ribeye/Chicken Set, $35.95 (5*) It looks unassuming when it comes, but there is a ton of food on the plate. The Tom Kha Gai had tons of tender shredded chicken and the broth was incredibly unctuous. The ribeye was drenched in this sweet and spicy sauce. Spectacular. Those two were the stars for sure. Everything else was really good, but the steak and soup shined brightly. - Value (5*) Considering the amount of amazing food that comes in a set, the price is a steal. You get to experience a lot of several dishes that you might otherwise not experience if just ordering your usual entree. - Final Word Definitely worth repeat visits to check out the other sets.

The restaurant is located in a hidden ally. The environment gives of industrial farm house vibes. The food was pretty good for its price and I love how it has a good combination of protein, carbs, veggies and sweets. However the chicken skewer we got was RAW!! The good thing is that the server replaced and gave us a new one so I guess the service is not bad.

I had been looking forward to trying Hed Verythai for a few months after reading about it from a local food critic. I was able to attend a special pop-up preview menu of Hed 11, a new restaurant concept inside the Kimpton Hotel in Japantown coming soon. With 11 courses, there was a wide variety of dishes with a general foundation in Thai cuisine, but incorporating Japanese and French touches such as breading and caviar.Right from the start, the oysters on a half shell had a crispy garnish with slivers of red pepper, which provided a good amount of kick. They were clean, cool and flavorful. I have to say that my favorite was the crisp catfish salad with green mango. The catfish was only incorporated in the flavor of the crispy mound without the texture, which was very interesting. The beef curry with Thai pepper was also a favorite of my group. There are some parking garages nearby that would be more realistic options.

This place has been on my list for a while, and it turned out great! Our party of 5 (4 adults one toddler) ordered 3 sets which was the right amount as we still had two boxes of leftovers. We tried the chicken, pork, and veggie set. There wasn’t a single thing that wasn’t tasty! The entree, salad, soup, side dish, dessert - every thing in a single set great and goes well together. Plus you get to try so many different flavors and textures. Highly impressed with the quality of food as well as the service.I love Thai food in general but this place is very special and well worth checking out.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian set was great. The tofu satay was quite good, as were the noodles.

Hed verythai is upscale spot for solid Thai food, with a unique set-style menu. FOOD // The menu offers several set options that focus on what kind of protein you would like, and then it comes prepared with several side dishes. Nice way to sample multiple dishes in smaller portions, especially if your group has varied preferences for their favorite choice of protein. I tried the Chicken set, which came with: + Chicken coconut curry - mildly spicy + Bowl of three types of rice + Coconut milk mushroom soup + Butternut squash - this was a bit bland on its own, but okay eaten in combination with the other dishes + Papaya salad - on the spicier side + Mango pudding - a good end to the meal. Sesame and coconut flakes on top were a nice touch that added crunchy texture. The portions didn't look like much at first, but the bowls were deeper than we expected. We were all stuffed by the end of the meal. SERVICE + AMBIANCE // Service was overall good. Our server was very nice and checked in on us a few times. The service did slow down considerably by the end of the meal as we were waiting for dessert; this isn't a place for a rushed meal. Candlelit ambiance and pretty interior deco. This spot would be great for dates or friend catch-up. They have a bigger table that could fit 10 people. The restaurant is in a quiet alleyway right off a busy road, and convenient to reach via public transportation.

Attended a preview dinner for a new spinoff concept Japantown restaurant, Hed 11. Unique interpretive Thai food crafted from high quality ingredients. There was a bit of requisite spice in nearly every dish. Plenty of flavor and a nice experience with friends. Look forward to the opening of Hed 11.

The space was lovely, the people were welcoming, and the food was exceptional. I got the beef set and loved every dish - it was beautifully presented and while it didn't look like that much food, I was so full at the end. It was delicious - nuanced flavors and lots of variety across the set. I'm visiting from out of town, but will absolutely return next time I'm in SF.

Came here for a birthday celebration and had such an enjoyable dining experience! The restaurant is small but the ceilings are high and the interior feels very modern and welcoming. We were a party of seven and came without a reservation and were luckily seated right away. Our server was so sweet and kind and really made us feel so special while celebrating a birthday so big shoutout to her!! The food comes in sets, so I ordered the chicken set which came with a papaya salad, chicken curry, some other small dishes, and your choice of mango or coconut pudding. I normally don't like sets because I feel like there is always something in the set I don't like, but I genuinely liked every dish in the set I got. I hope to be able to come here in the future and try more dishes!

Very satisfying and very well thought out menu, service, and physical space. Loved the curated "sets" - saves me from having to decide! The portions for the price were just right. I half the set for leftovers while my hungry bf left satisfyingly full. We'll definitely return.

I love their set menu concept! Choose a protein and comes with rice, soup, veggies. Home cooked nourishing Thai food. Nothing is too heavy, greasy, salty. Everything was delightful, well-balanced, and healthy. Little plates add up, so it was quite filling too. We left nourished. Chose Chicken! Came with: 1. Chicken in curry* - this was so good! Hearty but not too heavy or greasy, flavorful but not too salty. Chicken thigh pieces were tender but not fatty. I love that it was juicy chunks than flattened chicken pieces I see in most thai places. Super balanced! This was my favorite out of the 5. 2. Butternut Squash - I really looked forward to this as I love squash! This one was a bit oily but still delicious. Great on the side. 3. Thai coconut mushroom soup - milky white coconut soup. I personally gravitated towards the curry more but a great alt if the curry wasn't your favorite. 4. Papaya Salad* - this was so refreshing!! It complimented everything very well. I steered away from ordering salads at thai places because it can be very acidic and strong, but to have it on the side was a game-changer. Like it complimented everything so well! This was my friend's favorite out of the 5. 5. 3 rice: jasmine, brown, and rice berry. Rice berry was my favorite! So nutty. We didn't get a dessert, instructions unclear haha. Love the quiet music choices here, it made it a peaceful environment, a lovely break from work. Around noon on a Friday, there weren't too many people but the place filled up around 1pm! Service was kind and attentive.
