Hunan House Reviews
Service was absolutely horrible, came with friends after being recommended to go there. The server was being extremely rude, the issues started after being ignored for a good 20 minutes. I asked someone if we could order at the register or if there was someone coming to help us. Keep in mind there were only about 3 other tables occupied, so the restaurant was empty. She started to take my order, shaking her head at what I was ordering and rolling her eyes. I asked if there was...read full review
I was very hungry late-night and the food I got (singapore noodles and green onion pancakes) was warm and filling. I am glad that I got take out though as the interior was not very inviting. It was dark, and it seemed like the fish tanks near the front really needed a cleaning. Also, there was a strong cigarette smoke smell. I second guessed myself about that on the way out thinking it might be the curry but still, the smell was not inviting.
great service!
I had lamb
my wife had beef short ribs
& my father in law had chicken and shrimp, So I tried it all and OMG the meat- no matter which one you get it just melts in your mouth, absolutely and totally impressed...

Hunan House is a classic Chinatown restaurant known for its extensive menu offering delicious food at great value. The lunch special is highly recommended, including dishes like walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, and Chong Qing Chicken, with a drink, soup, and dish over rice for less than $12. The restaurant has an old-fashioned charm with dated decor and even features karaoke upstairs. While the place has shifted more towards a “hole in the wall” vibe and can sometimes be understaffed, the quality of the food makes up for it. Popular options include spicy wonton with chili oil, seafood pan fried noodle, cumin lamb, and explosive chili pepper fish. The "Hunan dinner" combination is excellent, and non-spicy versions are available upon request. Many dishes are family-style and meant to be shared, with a vegetarian menu offering a decent selection of veggie and tofu options, and some dishes can be customized to be vegetarian. The menu has clear photos and good translations, making it easy for non-Chinese speakers to order, and there are menu sets tailored to different flavor profiles, including authentic Hunan spicy dishes. Service is straightforward, with staff available when needed, and the atmosphere is casual with booths and tables. Overall, Hunan House is a go-to spot for family-style dishes, hot pot, and quick, reasonably priced lunch specials in the area.
