Ideale has been a favorite of ours for many years. Their food is always consistently good and authentically Italian. It's like dining with family! The service is so attentive and spot on. Charming place off the beaten path but a great secret for us locals that know about it. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Love this place!

We just returned home after a long weekend in San Francisco. Among the highlights of our visit was dinner at Ideale. Everything was superb at the restaurant including the ambience and quality of the food (we both had an Insalata Ideale, the Fettuccine Alla Norcina and shared a Tiramisu and bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma). However, what made the evening most memorable was our waiter, Gino (from Venice, Italy). Not only did Gino provide excellent service, but he was, perhaps, the nicest waiter we have ever met. Such a gentleman. He truly made our evening special, and treated us equally as honored quests and family members. Needless to say, we can't wait to return to Ideale.

Our experience was top notch! We had the prosciutto wrapped pear to start and it was unbelievable. I had the cacio e Pepe and my husband had the steak- both were phenomenal but the cacio e Pepe was out of this world. I will dream about this pasta. Our waitress Elleen was so fabulous. She was attentive, kind and had amazing suggestions! We will absolutely be back.

I've been coming here for years and have always loved it but last night‘s dinner was a major disappointment. The calamari appetizer was good, two of us at the special pasta which was just doughy with not much filling, one had pasta with clams which was tasteless and someone had sliced steak which he said was just mediocre.

I am truly shocked by the incredible level of service we received at a recent business dinner at Ideale. From the second we walked in, we were treated like family. Hands down the best service I've had in a restaurant and the food was incredible too. Everything was homemade- including the bread and the pasta- with love and pride. We'll be back the next time we're in San Francisco. Thank you Ideale!!!

We had a great dinner there last night. The eggplant parmigiana special was very good and the pastas all perfectly al dente. Prices very reasonable including many Italian wines. Happy to have stumbled across Ideale and would definitely recommend for a night out in North Beach.
This is thr best kitchen in North Beach, and possibly the best restaurant. We were a party of five, and everyone agreed they got everything right.

Great place ! I am Italian and the food here is real Italian cuisine ! I was impressed with the calamari appetizer, the calamari were grilled and NOT fried, much lighter and super tasty, also I always order the fish catch of the day , the fish is always super fresh and well made, I was never disappointed . Highly recommended!

We made reservations but unfortunately there was a large party that must have placed their food order ahead of us. Our food took an extremely long time; 4 of the 5 entrees came out and the 5th basically had to be cooked (the waiter/owner at least was forthcoming with that info)- did give a glass of wine to compensate. I asked about a small side salad to go with my entree, waiter suggested arugula and tomato with cheese- perfect… until the bill showed up and it was $18 for the small salad. Sentiments of the table was food was good but not exceptional, Tiramisu was exceptional! Overall felt over priced, service wasn’t great (had to ask for more wine, water just set on table, bread wasn’t refreshed).
