We had a lovely dinner before our show at Il Borgo. The gnocchi with pesto and the penne amatraciana were standouts and the owner served us herself with fresh baked bread. The wine list was limited but good. This is a little hidden gem.
The most charming and amazing little Italian dream on the corner. The owner is incredibly welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is warm and food is exceptional! The pasta is homemade and you can taste the chefs magic in the food. Highly recommend!

What a treasure ! We were looking for a new experience for dining before the Opera/Ballet. We've grown tired of the crowds, noise and hurried atmosphere closer to Civic Center and Hayes Valley. Took a chance on this charming restaurant and were not disappointed. Felt like we had just stepped into a small Italian restaurant I remember from outside Florence a few years ago. Unassuming, with Italian country fare, and very nice family atmosphere. I am reluctant to share because it has such a nice neighborhood feel and I hope it stays that way! It was well worth the walk to and from the Opera House location ( about 1.3 miles round trip).
The ambience gets positive notes: cozy, “old-country” style decor, intimate, candlelit tables, something charming about the décor like murals, Chianti bottles etc.

Lasagna ✌🏻
Really loved this place. It’s got that down-home, cozy vibe that’s hard to find in SF these days. No scene, just good food and friendly service.
You can walk in, ask for a glass of wine and they’ll bring you a generous pour with warm fresh bread. We asked for some red sauce and they brought out this homemade marinara that really hit the spot. Everything felt super relaxed and easy.
We liked it so much, we woke up the this morning and are already planning to come back tonight 😂 Definitely a hidden gem

Such a hidden gem! Had the best time with my friends. The lasagna was great: It’s an unassuming restaurant with great food. They won’t check in on you every minute like other restaurants but it’s honestly better this way. If you want a nice night out with reasonable pricing, come to this place.

I had dinner with a friend at Il Borgo yesterday evening before a concert at SFJAZZ. The service was prompt, the food was delicious and delivered quickly, and was very reasonably priced. It was easy to have a conversation while dining. Il Borgo is conveniently located for an easy walk to events at SF Symphony (Davies Symphony Hall), SF Opera and Ballet (War Memorial Opera House), SFJAZZ (Franklin and Fell), and SF Conservatory of Music (Bowes Center and Ann Getty Center). If I drive, I park at the SFMTA Performing Arts garage on Grove St. If I walk, I take BART to the Civic Center station.
Went with my group of friends. It is a great atmosphere and very tasty pasta and their bread has a nice light crisp also delicious.

Absolutely the best ravioli I’ve ever had. I had the artichoke ravioli. Italian is my favorite food so I eat a lot of it all over the US and out of all of them this place stands out. The bread was freshly made and superb. Service was extremely fast. Such a hidden treasure.
