I first ordered a Tom Collins then my friend ordered a drink. Bartender served my friend his drink before me, forgot my drink. I had to order again and bar tender coughed on my drink. Bartender then walks away for 5 min. The space is nice tho.

Should've been a perfect Friday afternoon pitstop for me and my companion, both of us former denizens of SF and hardcore vintage bar fanatics, but for the terrible attitude on the bartender who fairly scoffed at our white wine order. Is it so outrageous to order a glass of wine in SF? My friend had a long night of drinking ahead of him -- at a renowned SF joint he created and owned for a time. After the rude reception we politely cancelled our order at Iron Horse and caught a car out to the Haight, where the welcome and the drinks were perfectly delightful, at Zam Zam.

My friend and I were in the union square area around St. Patrick's Day and were initially going to go to Harlan Records, but saw a massive rollicking crowd outside celebrating St. Patrick's Day, and wanted to go somewhere quieter instead.
Luckily, my friend had already been to Iron Horse Cocktails, and suggested we go there instead. Walking down the alleyway it is located in was a nice getaway from the otherwise hectic union square atmosphere.
Walking in was also a neat experience that felt like we were stepping out of the city into a tiny pub. We also really liked the atmosphere inside and the cozy upper floor that had an interesting mix of old paintings and woodwork, creating an eclectic feel.
I got the We've Got the Beet cocktail with mezcal, beet reduction, ginger, fresh citrus, thyme and firewater bitters. I love mezcal's smoky flavors and was drawn to the combination of ginger, citrus and mezcal flavors in the drink. The cocktail was very good and had a nice smokiness from the mezcal, along with the kick from the ginger and zest from the citrus, creating a refreshing and tasty drink.
My friend got the About Thyme, with gin, blackberry liquor, black pepper thyme syrup and fresh citrus. We both really liked his drink as well, which had an interesting kick from the black pepper thyme syrup that offset the gin and blackberry liquor nicely.
While we only had time to grab a drink each, we were both very happy with the drinks and would definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

Visited on a Friday night at approx 10:30 PM and they closed at 11PM. Service was prompt and drinks were great.The upstairs area is great for more intimate conversations.
Drinks are reasonably priced and I was able to use BlackBird to pay without issue.

Fun cocktails! We got there during thursday happy hour which had great deals but we ordered cocktails off normal menu. They were really balanced and refreshing drinks! It was also lively and busy for thursday around 430pm too! We sat at the bar but noticed they had an upstairs seating area as well.

Stumbled upon this bar while street wondering in SF. Great coctails in a chill atmosphere, incl. Small tables outside on the street and also a small duo playing near by, on Friday afternoon. Perfect spot for a shot, alcohol-infused break.

Online it said the place closed at 10pm. We came by at 9:20 to grab one drink to celebrate our anniversary (paid for an uber and everything) and the guy said they were closed and just wasn’t even apologetic. Pretty frustrating. I’d get if we were there like 15 minutes before close or something but it took us 20 min to get there and there was plenty of time for a single drink.
