Busy Friday night and we were really hungry, there were no other restaurant that didn’t have a 1 hour+ wait time or a long line so we decided to eat here…the restaurant was completely empty. Food tasted good but we paid $70 + tip for 2 rice bowls and an order of takoyaki. Good service and decent food but pretty expensive. We also got served with paper plates and cups which for the prices they’re charging feels pretty bad. A family came in to get seated and left immediately saying “actually we’ll go somewhere else”… they were very good with food allergies and accommodating to it which is a plus.

I don’t give one star reviews lightly but this one is well deserved. I went here on a date because I really enjoyed this place pre-pandemic. Although this is a sit down style returns by, you now order and pre-pay via QR code and all food and beverages are served on paper plates and in paper or plastics cups. We ordered the pork katsu bites that were so over cooked it was a chore to eat, and our okonomiyaki and yakisoba were mediocre at best. Our bill came to $107 for the two of us. I sincerely regret suggesting this place and was embarrassed by how expensive it was for what we got since my date was paying. There are plenty of good places to eat in Japan Town, please do not waste your money on this one.

The okonomyaki brought me back to Japan. The flavor was there. The shape was a larger diameter than Japan and more flat than I’ve seen. The service was excellent! The price however, especially for a lunch, was way too high. The okonomyaki started at $20! For a lunch menu! Good flavor, but a one time treat. Not a regular spot for me for that price. 1-seafood okonomyaki:$24, 1-pot of green tea:$3, plus tax and 20% tip= $36 for lunch!

Its not as good as it used to be :( It reallt sucks to say because I love to support Japantown businesses but the quality of the food they're supposed to be known for is not what it used to be. Me and my boyfriend used to get takeout all the time. The last time I got it was quite disappointing.

DELICIOUS seafood okonomiyaki. We were beyond satisfied. It was the perfect last meal of 2022.

I used to be a regular here. Whenever I go to Japantown, most likely I will eat here. But this last visit today was very disappointing. My okonomiyaki was mushy and undercooked. We told the server, he argued thats how it is. I said no. Duh! I have eaten here so many times, i know how its supposed to be. They remake it and its still the same. Plus the price now is $24!!! Plus tax and tip, thats $30 undercooked meal. They also serve on paper plate. I dont care what you say about short staffed, but if you can charge that much, you can afford to pay a guy to wash your dishes! Used to be a great place, now its Pathetic. Sad! I will not be back.

Really tasty! Really pricey. Cute little spot with great atmosphere. You can sit at a quiet counter by yourself if you like. The okonomiyaki are really tasty and can really help revive you on a cold SF winter day. For the price ($20-30 per person), paper cups and paper plates are a little disappointing. But all in all good food and lots to do in the surrounding area

THE WORST restaurant in Japantown if not the Bay Area. First off they use paper plates to serve you claiming it's because of labor shortage and COVID reasons. While I can understand and appreciate the explanation, I wonder why they are the ONLY place in town doing that? Next it's their food. I ordered the okonomiyaki and they absolutely tortured the dish. They made it into a soggy and mushy plate of omelette, slapped a big pile of sweet sauce and called it okonomiyaki. I rarely not finish my food but it was so bad I gave up midway eating it. Finally it's their price. Their prices are actually MORE expensive to similar options in the mall but MUCH worse quality. Please do not visit this place. I felt like being robbed visiting this place. Latest update after I wrote their review, my friend who also had okonomiyaki with me had food poisoning from their food. The only thing he had yesterday was a croissant from downstairs in Jina Bakes so high chances are he got it from here.

Their food really is just ok. Their okonomiyaki wasn't as good as the one I had in LA little Osaka. And also the food are pretty pricy. Especially their appetizers. $22 for fried calamari and $14 for karage? No thanks. Not even mentioning they serve everything with paper plates. We also ordered the katsu don and it just tasted like the bento from Japanese supermarket.

I wanted to try this place and I finally did, unfortunately wasn't what I was expecting. Okonomiyaki is something very simple to make and the ingredients you need to make it are not expensive at all (after all, is basically cabbage, eggs, and flour) so it is crazy to me that they charge $20 for the simplest okonomiyaki without any meat on it. The place is cute, big and clean but empty and I think is not only because the prices are way too high for a bunch of sautéed cabbage but also because they serve you water in plastic cups and the food in paper plates. There are a lot of things that can be improved in this restaurant and this review is so whoever is in charge of the restaurant can do those improvements, like changing the prices to a more reasonable price, serving food in real plates, and having people to help you with the menu instead of slapping a QR code at the customers.

Izumiya is a casual restaurant that specializes in okonomiyaki, Japanese comfort food in the form of a savory pancake. Izumiya tends to get overlooked because it's in the same vicinity as Marufuku and Udon Muzigo, but it deserves more credit! I actually had never tried okonomiyaki before, but was pleasantly surprised by how filling the pork okonomiyaki was. For $22 though, the price is admittedly a little steep. The modern okonomiyaki is an additional $3 charge and includes yakisoba and fried egg on top. Ordering is done online via QR code and service is efficient. The restaurant is quick to seat people, but the layout is very cramped inside. FYI: They are currently using paper plates and utensils due to a labor shortage.

Popped in one evening before a concert at the Fillmore, no line! Turned out to be really delicious. We shared the fried tofu and the okonomi yaki. Definitely a spot I want to put on my rotation. They still are very COVID aware, masks, QR reader menus/ ordering via your phone, and plastic utensils and paper plates. I'm not sure if the disposable stuff is from COVID or if it's always been like this, whatevs. Still, our server was friendly and attentive. Not his fault we had paper plates.

we came in for an afternoon snack to try out the okonomiyaki, but was rudely served. on the weekends they have a $10 / person minimum. the place was empty at 430pm on a sunday, so thought we wouldn't be a huge burden. the three of us got one to share and it came out to $29.47. we were forced to take out because we didn't spend the $10/person minimum. i understand if they were busy during peak dining hours, but thought it was absurd to turn away customers from dining when they had 1 other person in the restaurant.
