Absolutely lovely! Kind people, delicate fresh complex sushi! Nigiri is the thing here, save the over sauced deep fried rolls for other places. I came in at 9pm on a Saturday and had a great experience! Places that have been around as long as this deserve a visit!

Personally, I think it's the best and most consistent sushi restaurant in SF. Been coming here for over 15 years and it never disappoints. Every piece of sushi or sashimi has the most delicate and complex flavors. Don't use soy sauce! For sushi purists looking for a twist on the usual, Kabuto is the place to go

New favorite sushi spot. I walked in and got the omakase for $99. For the incredible quality, full belly and service that I got, I think they could charge more! This place definitely wowed the socks off of me and I'm definitely planning on bringing back friends and family to support this place. What an absolute gem. Thank you, Kabuto, for making my lunch something truly fantastic.

This is our favorite special date sushi spot. They start out your meal with a free appetizer that's always a hit. The servers are efficient and direct, the food is always fantastic and it may be a little pricey but we think it's worth it. I was shocked by some of the low reviews, I read through them and they're pretty ridiculous most of the time. Definitely Karen-vibe people because I wouldn't trust their opinions on anything after reading their reasonings

Was taken here for my birthday and sat at the bar. It was such an amazing experience. We didn't have the omakase set, but we got a dragon roll and a couple nigiri. The dragon roll was very fresh and tasty the unagi was so good! The nigiri was amazing. We ordered a seasonal special- cherry blossom trout or sakura masu- and it was so delicious, very delicate in flavor and super fresh. All the fish was so tasty and fresh and they had a lot of unique combinations for their nigiri that I haven't seen at other restaurants before. I really enjoyed the food. The service was incredible and took the dinner to the next level. The wait staff was very quick and efficient and the owner was super friendly. Seeing him make sushi and talking to him made dining at Kabuto feel like an incredible experience. We can't wait to come back!

Went here for a casual dinner after Valentine's Day. We did not opt for their Valentine's Day omakase menu, but ordered a la carte items instead. We personally felt like that was more worth it. Fish tasted super fresh. Service was impeccable. They were so friendly. Bar seating was a bit cramped, but we did it for the view of the sushi making. They gave us an item on the house that was super delicious, which was a bonus!

The service was efficient but the wait staff was not friendly, very short w us and we were the only party there at a 6pm on Saturday.

I've passed by this place so many times and I'm glad I finally got myself there. Quality sushi, really unique flavors. They are so nice, the quality of the tuna was so good it melted in my mouth. Try the small appetizers like the hamachi pear... it's like nothing you've had before! They were very friendly and chill and offered suggestions when we were overwhelmed with choices. Definitely gonna go back for their omakase.

A good sushi place with a rotating seasonal selection of uncommon fish. The fish is fresh, the price reasonable and the sake selection is good. Service is a bit slow though when we were there. It took about an hour for 7 types of nigiri to be served. Seems like the chefs were overwhelmed with orders even when the restaurant is just full, not packed.

Kabuto is our favorite Japanese restaurant in SF: the food (especially the fish!) is very high quality, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere / vibe is cozy and welcoming - overall, a very friendly neighborhood hangout kind of spot. Their omakase is also the best omakase deal in the city - great value for a very reasonable price.

Have seen this restaurant for awhile and decided to try it for a date night. The staff was wonderful, very attentive. The food was delicious as well. We did the omakase special and the presentation was fine, but the sushi was fresh and so good! The chefs were knowledgeable and friendly. The Chutoro with a touch of waygu and gold flakes was definitely my favorite and could have a whole tray of those if I could.
