It was around lunchtime and I chose not to have lunch with the wife and her girlfriend at the Westfield mall because Daniel L. and Lolia S. keep reviewing banh mi sandwich shops and I want to go look for one. So, walking around aimlessly looking for banh mi's in a particularly savory part of the TL with all the street dwelling alcoholics (I walked by one who took a leak right in the middle of the sidewalk), one can imagine all the sights, sounds, and of course smells throughout the air. One particular smell I couldn't resist, meat grilling on a grill! I followed my nose inside KH and found a menu that was pretty diverse and random as the neighborhood itself. ( While KH unfortunately doesn't have banh mi sandwiches, fried chicken, Viet noodle soups, sushi rolls, fish and chips, pancakes and bacon, etc. round out the budget friendly menu. ( I ordered what was grilling, the short ribs over rice as it was popular with the old timer regulars according to the owner (?). ( It was a manly sized portion with good smoky flavor. The riblets tasted marinated beforehand and even though a little fatty were tender and meaty. The side salad with Japanese dressing was pretty fresh. ( KH makes all their food to order and could be a solid spot for takeout.
