Writing this review because I read this location has been closed? Sorry to hear that, hope it's not true. We tried this bakery a few times through delivery. Good salads and bakery items.

Delicious, adorable, efficient. I had a seasonal peach scone, which balanced delightfully fluffy but also dense and creamy somehow. I love food that defies physics. Sweet but not sugary. Amazing. They have vegetarian French onion soup! It was sweeter than my preference (onion-sweet, not sugar-sweet), but still tasty. This probably won't be appreciated, but once I ate all the cheese & bread, I dumped the rest into some lentils & made a fabulous mujedre (aka "mujadara," but that's not how Sithe pronounces it. Feels wrong). Very clean, very cute. I would like to come back at a less busy time (if that's possible) & enjoy the little tables & atmosphere for a bit, but I wasn't yet eating indoors with strangers (pandemic) & it was packed anyway. The Marina is a lovely area to wander while nibbling something wonderful. There was a line out the door when I was there around 9am on a lightly rainy Saturday, but the wait wasn't too bad. The service was fantastic, and the food so very very good, it was well worth it. I live across the city & will gladly make the trek to have another scone melt in my mouth.

We came across this bakery on IG, so when we visited SF, we made time on Sunday morning to give it a try. Their croissants are as good as Paris! Flaky goodness. Croques Madame is out of this world.. French onion soup is a must! Unfortunately 2066 Chestnut St is going to close by the end of October 2021. But they do have other locations that will be worth to visits whenever we are in SF.

I went there for lunch and ordered a croque madame. The food and service were very good. The place and atmosphere were also pleasant. The only disappointment I had is that a bakery is supposed to sell bread and they didn't.

I only get to try their chocolate croissant and it was good! They always ran out of food way before there closing time. 1st time i went and there was no food and second time i went there before 3:30 and it was only croissant.

Line out the door. Specialize in baking croissants and other laminated pastries. Breakfast all day? No baguettes. Food: ham and cheese croissant sells out! Food is simple but yummy, just like french food should be. $5ish for a croissant. Or pick any 12 for $48. Ambiance: like cafeteria style? Get in line, order, get number, hope there are seats, they will bring food to you.

Yesterday 9/19, got the french onion burger and asked for it to be cooked medium, one big bite in I realized my burger was just ground beef barely seared. The burger was completely uncooked and mushy. I have good faith that this doesn't happen often, but Ive now had intense food poisoning since Sunday.

The one in the Castro is amazing. This one, not so much. Came around 1130am and the pastry tasted old - was not good and so I did not eat it. It's also somewhat expensive considering. On top of it, I had to wait a while for someone to help me - I ended up needing to ask if there was anyone available. Will not be coming back to this location.

I love this place. The baked goods are amazing, and should be the primary reason you make this a destination for you and your loved ones. The salads are fresh, the food in general is very, very good. Some items (like "Eggs Benedict") are only available on the weekends, although from the menu it was not obvious which items are in that category. You will wait. Don't take it personally, but the line may move slowly. Remember, though, that good things come to those who wait. When you get to the counter, the person who helps you will give you the full benefit of their time and attention, and will not rush you or make you feel like your being there is an imposition. Of course, waiting is reserved for those who choose the "dine-in" option. The "take-away" / "take-out" option is the better choice when time is short. You can order in haste and pick up your delicious food at your leisure. (Ordering in haste is not a sin; hence no need to repent or regret.) Whatever opening times have been posted, do not take them too seriously. And, in particular, avoid the mistake that I made when I had a morning flight and had to get to SFO by 9am. Yes, the sign said "open at 7am", but this is an artisan establishment and the artists might not be able to actually open the establishment until 7:15 or so. (Since you might be wondering, I waited that first time. I didn't regret it - the food was amazing. And yes, thank you for asking, I made my flight.) I personally love the chocolate-almond croissant. Of course, the chocolate croissants and the almond croissants are also good. The gluten-free "Bouchon" (gooey chocolate lava-cake-like creations) are amazing. Cookies (chocolate-chip and oatmeal raisin) are both delicious. When ordering "To Go", make sure to order from their site: Yes, you can order from seamless or other "scalper" site - but why do that to yourself and to a small business that benefits from your direct patronage.

There's twine string in my turkey sandwich. This is a good restaurant And I'm a regular here but this afternoon I choked and got this rope stuck down my throat and took it out after coughing. Then I thought it was over And continued eating my sandwich and choked a second time on a second string. The Turkey sandwich is good but I actually didn't get to eat a lot of the food since I spit it all out with the string.

I don't understand the 3 stars for this place. This has to be one of the greatest spots in the Bay Area for amazing food and most importantly their croissants! Omg those croissants are so good! We stopped by for breakfast and pastries. My kids had the French toast plate and we had the 5 items breakfast platter. We also got some pastries and of course we had to try the croissant. Everything tasted delicious! Definitely coming back !

It's hard to believe it's been several years since this review. What's changed? They no longer offer bread (which is too bad, the neighborhood really needs a fresh local option). Their pastries are still excellent. They offer a nice breakfast and lunch option. Their service is still challenged to meet demand and they often run out of pastries (maybe a high class problem). The other morning, I went in seeking an almond croissant. They put a chocolate almond one in a bag and handed it to me, then telling me they were out, was that ok. Solid pastries but the wait can be a challenge. (Other places you have to wait? e.g., Arsicault, Tartine, B. Patisserie - are better IMO)

I think the 3 star average review is pretty accurate, maybe overstated. To be clear - the massive line to place an order is not because the bakery is it popular, it's because they are unbelievably inefficient. Food came out before our coffees. The 2 coffees came out 10 minutes apart. The first coffee came out in a proper mug, the second came out in a take out cup.
