Traveled over 20 minutes; got there, ordered via the QR code, told the server we ordered with the code. 40 minutes later, no food, and told the kitchen is closed. Unsure of what’s next, I waited until someone came, so that I can ask for a refund. Apparently anyone can walk in and steal food. Order from home, it’s wayyyyy faster!

Went here for my birthday dinner, there were no black people working there, strange for a black owned establishment. The chicken was good but the greens were horrible! My kids are the pulled pork n mac n cheese they said it was okay but they have had better… I was hoping for an amazing experience and great good but I got way less….

I was looking for a good soul food restaurant in San Francisco, but this wasn’t it. Their restaurant is super cute, however the food was lack luster. The fried chicken was fried well, but lacked seasoning and flavor. The mac and cheese had breadcrumbs on top and that should have been a sign. My boyfriend had shrimp and grits and that was very disappointing. The grits had no flavor and they just put canned tomatoes on top instead of making a sauce or a rue.

It wasn’t busy in the restaurant, however the service was very slow. We ordered our food using Toast, but the waiter came over to tell us that he had a big party on the other side and we may not see him for awhile. I watched my overly sweetened sweet tea sit on the counter for awhile and just when I was about to go pick it up, another waiter brought it over. Nobody really came over to check on us. I had to ask several times for a to-go box and a bag. I won’t be returning.

Don't be fooled by the good picture I took!

I came to Little Skillet with high hopes. A spot serving Black American comfort food? Count me in. After years of avoiding fried chicken here in the States, I thought this might finally be the place to break that streak. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

The fried chicken was a major letdown—bland, under-seasoned, and tasting mostly of old oil. Not the soulful, flavorful bite I was expecting. I also tried the collard greens for the first time, but they didn’t win me over either; aside from an overcooked jalapeño thrown in, they lacked depth and character. The grits didn’t help matters, plain, with an odd hard crust in the middle that made for an unpleasant surprise.

Service was another disappointment: it took long just to place an order, and the wait for the food felt like a 5 business days wait. Considering the high prices, the whole experience simply wasn’t worth it.

For real soul food, I’ll hold out until my next trip back to New Orleans.

The atmosphere and staff are nice but this restaurant is a disgrace to “soul food”. It’s so terribly bland and finding out it’s not even black owned isn’t surprising because of the food. If you want better chicken and waffles go to cracked and battered or Brenda’s soul food.

I recently visited The Little Skillet in San Francisco with my mom and sweetheart, and it was an exceptional experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The food was nothing short of fantastic—crispy fried chicken, perfectly seasoned grits, melt-in-your-mouth cornbread, and indulgent chicken and waffles that hit every note. My sweetheart’s shrimp and grits and my mom’s catfish were equally delicious, showcasing the restaurant’s mastery of Southern comfort food. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. Whether you’re with family or on a date, The Little Skillet is the perfect spot for soul-satisfying meals and an unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!

Good choices just no flavor in the food. And the mac n cheese was cold in the middle as if they just warmed it up. Same with the mac n chess balls, also cold in the center. Nice environment, but so not easy there again

fried chicken was ok. terrible service even when there were only a few customers. lazy and unattentive servers who just chat around with her coworkers instead of giving me the bill so i could get out

They must use Mary’s chicken because the quality of what they use is phenomenal. The best fried chicken I have had!

I came across this place when I looked up black owned restaurants in San Fran. I loved the service and there was virtually no wait time before being seated and the food. when I went.

When I got the food I ordered the blackened catfish with biscuits and Mac and cheese. The food was good with the exception of the catfish, which was a small portion and did nothing for my taste buds.

I'm a bit agnostic on if I would go again. Being a Chicago foodie, I would likely be more open to exploring other options.

The fried chicken was juicy and crispy, but the best part might have been the syrup which had a hint of vanilla and was great with both the waffle and the chicken.
