A hidden gem in SF. Was craving authentic Japanese food (specifically tempura & soba noodles) after visiting Japan and Live Sushi Bar did not disappoint. The tempura was extremely fresh (and also light - the shrimp was the best), and the soba noodles were very tasty & great quality. We didn't make a reservation on a Friday night, and even though the restaurant was packed - they were accommodating and seated us quickly. The sushi is also fantastic - loved the salmon, scallops, and hamachi. Will def be back!

This is probably the 8th time at my favorite sushi restaurant in SF? I decided to everything for the first time today. Omakase tasting box (5/5): I can't believe I finally got the omakase! This tasting box comes with otoro sashimi , hamachi toro, amaebi, seared toro, chefs oyster, salmon toro, uni with ikura, ungai with imitation crab, and hamachi tartare. Everything was super unique and I was so satisfied with the various combinations. Ocean Trout (4/5): Wanted to try this for a while, but it looked like a thicker sliced of salmon. It was also topped with lime and masago. Despite its thickness, it had less flavor than salmon. Crab Napoleon (3/5): Finally tried this! It is a tower or tuna, salmon, and snow crab. I thought the flavors did not mix well together as it tastes awkaward. Will definitely be coming and maybe another tasting box.

Monday, April 1 my girlfriend and I met up at live sushi, I have to say it was pretty great with the exception of the sushi not being the best but for the price it was definitely doable. Don't get me wrong. The sushi wasn't bad at all. It's just that I'm used to sushi in Japan so it's hard to beat that but the sushi was absolutely good.. anyway, their location was great. Parking was easy and the ambience, service was lovely. This place I would absolutely suggest during lunch hour.

Great lunch option. Fish quality is great. I got a chirashi bowl which I upgraded for $8 for better fish upon the server's recommendation. Very filling and flavorful with the side of seaweed salad that came in the bowl. The rice is nothing too special compared to other sushi places, so taking off a star for that. Service is quick and very attentive! They kept refilling my hot tea and checking in. The interior boat-themed decor is interesting. I would come here again for a quick lunch.

this is a great dinner spot, very romantic in the evening and has speedy service even during a dinner rush! the fish is impressively fresh, delicious and flavorful... i would come back again to try more of their menu

I am so disappointed to even have to leave a two star review for this establishment. My family and I frequent this location often and have never been met with this type of horrible service ever. However; I would be remised if I didn't mention the extremely poor service my daughter and I received while dining in. When dining in we were seated almost immediately, but once seated that was it. When i say "it" that's exactly it, we sat, and sat, and sat while other guest who came in after us were being served. once our waiter did come to our table after 20 minutes of waiting with just ginger and wasabi sat in front of us we were asked our order. This ask mind you came before we were asked if we wanted beverages or appetizers. I asked our server can we please order drinks first and was met with a smug facial expression. He walked off and then a really nice lady approached our table and gave us water and hot tea as requested. Looking back I wish this lady who went around pouring tea and refilling drinks was our server because she was so friendly and kind. Unfortunately, we still had to be subjected to the same rude waiter who when did come back to take our order to to be in a hurry to walk away. Finally once our order came to the table he never came back to ask if we wanted anything else. When he did return he asked to take our menus which I feel should have been picked up once we had placed our order. I want to say this was a off day for the service because in past we have never experienced such poor behavior. The food per usual was great and very fresh. We didn't order as much as we would have normally due to the rude encounter so we just order two rolls as we were hungry and didn't want to walk out and find somewhere else to dine. It's really unfortunate because due to such poor customer service I did not leave a tip, which I always tip. I know how important it is to tip servers but I just could not bring myself to even leave an extra dollar, because that's how bad the service was. Again the food was great but service I have to say was out right horribly disappointing.

Lovely local spot for sushi and Japanese fare. Fresh fish, great fried foods and teriyaki. Rice was also delicious. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

Waitress today at 4:15 is highly incompetent. She would rather be stuck on the freeway changing tires.We have been coming to this place for years. She is a disgrace. The owner better fire her right away. Disgusting.

I can't believe I didn't write a review yet ! This is the best sushi in the town , we are coming here every single Sunday for the last year and every time enjoying from this place like a first time ! I saw a few 1 star reviews over here ... Well my personal opinion is that those reviews not representing this place AT ALL !!!!!!!!!! If you are want to enjoy of a good food and a great place this is the place and no doubt about ! After 10 years going to this place it's still #1
