Luisa's Restaurant Wine Bar Since 1959

This is a staple for my wife whenever she heads into San Francisco for work (about once a month). Consistently good, she swears by the Puttanesca. She doesn't eat gluten and instead of the usual options, they often have a GF Spaghetti option instead of penne. I've done the Oso Bucco (lamb) and the gorgonzola gnocchi (both specials). The service is always warm and well informed. I am sure we will be back.

Homemade pasta was delicious, staff was friendly & authentically Italian, and the ambiance was lovely. 10/10

Had to grab our own menus, waited over an hour for food and 45 minutes for water refill. Good food but way understaffed.

Atmosphere and service were good, but the food left me wanting more. The pesto is great, but the meatballs and garlic bread were under seasoned. We enjoyed our time together and ate the food, but I won't be going back.

Great experience all around. Definitely enjoyed the Osso Buck and Braised beef pasta specialty dishes. So good!!

After 10 days on the road down the coast of California this was the best food we have tasted! The gelato is to die for! The service was excellent! A pearl in San Francisco! We are defiantly coming back!

Very nice, we went just for drinks.

Delicious dinner. Had the privilege of meeting Luisa herself and enjoyed generous portions of papardelle bolognese and the Luisa signature chicken special which was outstanding! Generous portions but not so large as to be wasteful. Enjoyed my entire meal with Bruschetta and magnificent lemon torte cake and left satisfied but not feeling uncomfortably full! Shared a bottle Louisa's homemade cab sav wine which was also quite good and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I love this place! The wine is delish and the food is amazing. Even got to meet the 94 year old owner who is funny and still makes the meatballs. Don’t miss this place!

A very very nice surprise!
After 10 days in the US, we needed to eat more European food!
Walking down to Firsherman, we were immediately attracted by the contents of the plates and the atmosphere of this restaurant.
Yes, we weren’t there! The pizzas are excellent, as are the pizzas and we finished with a tiramisu much better than many restaurants in Italy!
We had a very, very friendly young Scicilian waiter who was in SF for his studies.
We recommend 400%!

Great discovery right in the middle of a very lively neighborhood! The food is authentic. The servers are very nice and the terrace is very well appointed in the heart of San Francisco, which gives charm to the restaurant.

We have been traveling around the country in our motorhome for 6 months, we always try to go to the places with the best reputation for their food and service.
We found this divine restaurant on Google and it also has my name🥰. So we decided to go and from the beginning it met our expectations, with the atmosphere and the good service of all the employees. 😊
Then we had the great surprise of meeting the original Luisa 🤩who was sitting there, paying attention to her restaurant, she at 94 years of age, carries out a high quality control, and additionally she told us a little about the interesting history of her life and the restaurants. In addition, she plans to open a third location very 🔜.

We let ourselves be guided by all of Luisa's recommendations and those of Claudio who was our waiter; We started with an exquisite Italian wine, then with the famous meatballs👌🏼, main dish Linguine Tutto Mare, which was full of flavor with different seafood, and the delicious tomato sauce 🥫, a perfect size for us who love to share, we also ordered the margarita pizza 🌱since it is my favorite and I can say that it is one of the best I have ever tried. We finished with the limoncello mascarpone cake dessert.

Everything was served in perfect time, perfect temperature of the dishes, excellent service, I loved the music, very stylish, between boleros and Italian music.
