The good news is that this restaurant has reopened after the Covid shutdown, and they have added some enclosures outside (on the 31st Ave side) for outdoor dining, with heaters. We should have opted for outside. But we assumed there would be reasonable separation from tables inside. It is a fairly small place. They did take out some tables, but it seemed we were still in close proximity to other tables, and many people did not even try to wear masks. Folks at the next table were talking loudly and laughing at the top of their lungs, like they'd had too much to drink. Considering Covid, we felt somewhat uncomfortable. The food and service was good as always. But, being vulnerable to infection, we won't go back at least until Covid is over. Too bad. It's a lovely place with great food and a wonderful old school atmosphere. I had heard rumors that Marcello's was closing, but I don't think they'd go to the expense of building outside enclosures if they were planning to close. We were there on 10/21/2020.

Great neighborhood spot for classic Italian cuisine. Got the pork chop with mashed potatoes and it was really good!

After many years this old school Italian Restaurant is shuttering some time in mid-October.

This has been one of my favorites places since I was a kid. My family has been going here forever and have celebrated so many great things here.

We love this place. My husband has been coming here since the beginning of time. I craved it with my first pregnancy. We just love the old school vibe and knowing that when we show up we are going to see familiar faces and get delicious dishes that we crave.

Best in the west. Ravioli perfecto. Amazing staff. Great environment. If you want Italian, you want Marcello!

Marcello’s is my favorite Italian restaurant in San Francisco. It is a family tradition to go there every year and it never disappoints. All of the servers and employees are always so kind and they make you want to keep coming back.

Now that we are sheltering in place, it is WONDERFUL to have a great restaurant like Marcelo's serving takeout. The melon in the prosciutto and melon is sweeter than any other restaurant in the city. For pastas we had the special veal ravioli, the amatriciana and the gnocchi in marinara sauce. For entrees you can't beat the veal Sorrento and the prawns Livornese (mildly spicy tomato sauce). For dessert if you live close enough, they will pack you up with some gelato. Run don't walk to get a fabulous Italian dinner during these strange times.

The BEST minestrone soup. Patrick the bartender is awesome, too.

Best service and best food. I only go here. Or if I don't. I goto the sausage factory in the Castro. Both places are super good. You won't regret it.

Best, most comfortable Italian food on the planet. I get the chicken parmesan meal every time, and it never disappoints. Patrick is a real homie too.

Xi loved it, but I pushed the wrong star! I had veal, a great meal and excellent service! 5 star plus! Pam Monte

The best minestrone soup in SF!I wish I could order it to go. There is nothing more comforting than a bowl of hot minestrone on a cold, foggy evening.

After just arriving in San Francisco my teenager picked this restaurant as we all love Italian food & from local magazines & the view on the street this place looked impressive.
