Fast, consistent, convenient, easy, delicious. Super straightforward to hop in and out with an udon on an off day shopping at Stonestown. Very good quality food for the price! My one thing was that the corn add-on comes cold so you have to warm it with the soup, but otherwise every bite was solid. You have to get the tempura ofc...all of them hit but I love the squid :)

Food sucks, the dish I ordered was overcooked chicken teriyaki. Staff not trained well.

I absolutely love the chicken Katsu. I love the crunch and the softness in the middle. Everytime I look at it, my mouth starts to water because it looks so GOOD! Thank you Marugame for moving in here and sharing your delicious cuisines!!

UDON even know about comfort until you've had a hot bowl of udon on a freeeezing cold day in SF! Located in Stonestown Mall, it gets busy very easily at any hour of the day. But being in a mall means there is convenient parking! We parked in the back of the mall since it's always empty there; our secret lil area by the mall's back entrance and made our way to the front. The restaurant itself is decently sized with plenty of seats inside. You wait in line to order then pay and head over to a table to enjoy it. Their bowls average around $10-$14 a bowl without toppings; I personally feel their bowls are already expensive as is so I never add anything else, but my friends do like their sides. -tonkotsu (5/5): This was one of their newer items when we went and it was great! The soup didn't exactly taste like tonkotsu but still good regardless. It was on the oilier saltier side so I didn't drink the soup on its own, but it went very well together with the udon. -kake (4/5): This is usually my go-to. It's sort of like a plain udon, basically the beef one without the beef. I usually opt for this one when I just want a quick simple bowl of udon. I enjoy the soup of this one a lot more since it's less heavy, and less salty. It's also a lot cheaper than the other bowls because it doesn't come with any protein, and I do feel this is a lot more value than paying an extra $5 for a few pieces of beef or chashu. Overall great noodles, very comforting, but nothing too special and pricier than what I would pay for a noodle soup. I would be back for convenience if I'm already at the mall!

If I want udon, I come to marugame & it always hits the spot. Sometimes they're busy but sometimes not, depending on the time of the day. I went at 2pm on a weekend and the wait was only about 15min out the door. I got the beef udon and my bf got the curry udon and we shared shrimp tempura. Seating is first come first serve but there's plenty of seating. I like that you can see them make your order in front of you and it's consistent every time and the staff work super efficiently. The soup is always so flavorful and gives a homey feeling when I eat it. It's especially good on a cold day, which is almost always in Daly City lol

Kinda sad, we just came back from Honolulu and been missing Marugame udon, but really disappointed today. The noodle tasted soggy, very little beef, and the tamago tempura was soggy as well. Just full of oil tastes. Want to try out the chicken Katsu, but it was over cooked so it was super bitter. Super regret before I tasted the food but placed an to go order as well, super disappointed. Hope your guys improve. If you are expecting Honolulu’s marugame, don’t come here yet.

The udon noodles were well flavored along with the beef broth. My main issue was the side order of bok choy because they gave me just the butt end of the stem from the bok choy and that is a joke!

We like the udon and order take out at least once a month. But the service has been spotty. A couple months ago, there was a leaking container in my carry-out bag, which caused the bottom of the bag to break and spill food all over my car. When I went back in to get food replaced, the staff was unhelpful, didn't apologize, and offered nothing acknowledging that I now needed to clean my car of soup and noodles. This last weekend, they forgot three items from my order, but I was home and didn't want to drive back to get them. So I emailed and texted, asking for a refund for those items. I never heard back from anyone.I like the food, but they don't seem to care.

Delicious offerings. Reasonable price points. Japanese food is totally crave worthy. When I get in the mood, udon noodles hit the spot nicely. I love them immensely. I am a noodles fanatic, in general. I also love tempura. Especially sweet potato, zucchini, and other type of deep fried, battered vegetables. Marugame gets it right, but of course. Whatever you expect, could be exceeded. The place is usually popping, quite busy on any day of the week. It doesn't take long to pay for the items, after serving yourself. Lots of menu choices to select from. I do wish the food would stay warm for longer, after it has been initially prepared. When ordering online, food to go, the heat has left the building, by the time pick up occurs. No huge deal. Your taste buds will be thankful, overall.

Comforting hot udon soup. So happy I have a Marugame nearby, the only one for a long time was in Oahu. This shop still has big crowds and long line during peak times. We had our usual beef udon, it's savory & sweet, great thinly slice beef and your choice of toppings. We tried the katsu curry rice, it was ok, but not the best katsu I've had. The chicken was a little dry and did not have that authentic panko crust. Honestly the boxed S&B curry mix from the supermarket is better. Overall, Marugame is an awesome mainstay for a bowl of house made udon noodle and comforting soup. The beef is awesome and their tempura is crunchy and tasty. I will be back.

In a nutshell; despite how busy it was, line rather went by quickly, food is top tier, it is cafeteria style eatery but the upon and tempura is worth it.Busy Saturday lunch hour, but I'd say it took about 8-15 mins of being in line before we got to give our order. Food was prepped. as you move along down the line and just grab a few tempura of various food that you fancy, head at the end of the line and just Pay as your food will be good to go. Had to sit outside and see how long the line has gotten. Few birds may surround you and it seemed that the couple on the next table had the unfortunate incident of a bird do a doo-doo on their clothing but seemed like a rare occurrence as it didn't seem to be common as we just enjoyed our meal outside for quite some time with no incident, so I guess just a word of caution. The udon is great regardless of which one you pick and the tempura's crispy crunchy delicious. Overall if you happen to swing by the mall and want good affordable Japanese udon/tempura then this is a place to visit.

I especially love the tempura bettered options here. Freshly fried, full of flavor, excellent topping sauces. Nothing lacking, for me.Vegetarian options: Many vegetables options that are not run of the mill/boringly prepared.
