Food, service, and atmosphere were amazing. Would highly recommend. However, when we ordered what we thought would be a nice bottle of wine, we came to find they marked up a $15 bottle 640% to $96. Know wine is more always expensive in a restaurant than wholesale, but this felt a bit absurd and unnecessary. Would recommend corkage if you’re drinking wine. Fun experience overall though.

Madderhorn is such a SF treasure. Cozy Swiss chalet with delicious authentic Swiss mountain fare. Service is so friendly and helpful.
Tasty, fun, but the best is the atmosphere, it's so homey and cozy inside, absolutely love it.
Was a delicious and fun date night. My wife and I had a fantastic time in the gondola car for our anniversary
The food and the ambience was fun and different than your typical restaurant experience. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. I think the food is a little pricey for what you get, but the experience overall felt worth it.
The menu of Swiss food is extensive and interesting. Dessert is offered. The waiter was attentive and friendly. The decor is fun like being in Switzerland.
We love coming here to Matterhorn! All the staff is accommodating and sweet. The food choices are excellent and we always leave full. It's a very fun and socially interactive dinner.

Great dining experience! The classic jazz tunes, plus the yummy light beer and interesting decor complemented the great/friendly service and delicious food. My son loved his onion soup (I had it too). We liked the (red?) wine broth that warmed & comforted us. We had a fondue with a mild cheese that we dipped beef sausage, potatoes and bread into. The pickles were vinegary and not too sour. The chocolate chip cookies were baked in real-time and served with a mug of milk.
One of our favorite dining experiences in the city that we just keep coming back to. Delicious fondue and fantastic service.
It has been a few years since we ate at the Matterhorn, but we had such a great dinner last night we can't wait to return. For an appetizer we shared a delicious cheese fondue called Vampire Hunter, which paired Swiss cheeses and gruyere with sake and sesame garlic oil. In addition to the bread, potatoes and pickled vegetables that come with the fondue, we added apple slices, which we loved. For entrees we tried the Zurich style veal stew in a mushroom and white wine sauce and the Berner rosti - grated potatoes served in a skillet with your choice of toppings (we chose smoked ham, cheese and roasted mushrooms). We would have loved to try the chocolate fondue for dessert, but we were too full from dinner.
First time dining at Matterhorn and it won't be our last! Enjoyed celebrating my husband's heritage with our kids. We drove down from Santa Rosa for a family date night in the city. Thank you for such a wonderful experience
Best fondue we've ever had, with more interesting menu choices than usual. Great service. The cost was quite high per serving, however. If you can afford it, it is great!
