Update October 2025: after a couple of years of really minimal footfall in this area, I'm delighted to see San Francisco is on the recovery path. Today it was really busy, an Autumnal October Sunday morning. And what's more, as you'd kinda expect, the busier the breakfast griddle gets, the better the food coming off it. Awesome this morning. The tomato soup tasted more like thick pasta sauce, and the turkey club had the most flavorless, dry turkey I’ve ever had. I left feeling genuinely disappointed because I really wanted this to be a classic, authentic diner experience.

We landed in San francisco last week, just needed a quick meal before settling in our hotel for a good sleep, no time for a proper restaurant that night. Honestly the tukey burger was awful. I left most of it, the meat was horrible. The actual place looked fun, Halloween theme decorations..prwtty cute and staff were nice. I personally wouldn't visit again

Mel's was a super fun experience and the authenticity was on point! We all enjoyed the food, and everything was so fresh. The burger was definitely fresh meat, and the fries tasted hand cut. We stumbled across the place as we were exploring the city, but I would absolutely come back!

The food was delicious I ordered the New Yorker with the 3 eggs and it’s delicious!! Their service isn’t attentive they tend to talk amongst each other too much. They are nice people! I also tried their dessert the Apple Crisp and was huge for the price.
