There’s a one ramen per person rule and it’s really strict. I wasn’t super hungry and just wanted to accompany friends for dinner and get appetizers and drinks but they said no. Then their vegan ramen had too much garlic in it and gave me a stomach ache. It was a nice atmosphere but I won’t be going back.

An absolute MUST!!!I came to Mensho back in 2018 for the first time and I have to say it’s very gratifying to see that the place is still there even after the pandemic. It’s running like usual and with the same quality of food an service. It’s a one of a kind “you have to wait in line” kind of place, but, listen, it’s worth every minute of you standing outside. The level of gratification once you zip that fist zip, it’s beyond words. It has plenty of vegan options with the same, or even more flavor than the regular ramens. The combination of flavors and the right amount of broth make you feel extremely satisfied once you walk out of the door. It’s that feeling after eating at your Grammys house, when too much food is never too much, but you feel so good after you can’t wait to repeat the experience… yeah, that’s what Mensho is.I can’t wait to come back and try the other vegan options. Completely recommended. ❤️Vegetarian options: Theres 3 main vegan ramen and some appetizers. The fried mushroom where delicious too.

we were there on a tuesday shortly before 8.30 pm and had to wait about 20 minutes (2 people). the staff were very nice. the toripaitan ramen was fantastic. the price was also good. the wagyu ramen was also delicious - but the price was quite high (despite the wagyu). because of the ambience i only give 4 stars, as it is a very small restaurant. there is not a lot of space at the tables and the food came faster than average and you had the feeling of having to rush because there were other people waiting outside. i can definitely recommend this restaurant for a visit for ramen.

I used to eat here a lot a few years ago when they first opened up but on my latest visit I became violently ill a few hours after and vomiting up everything I had eaten. Not sure what’s happened but the quality seems to have gotten worse over the years.

One of the best toripaitan ramen I have ever had. The soup is very rich in flavor compared with usual toripaitan. The taste is closer to the tonkotsu soup base but it is not greasy at all. The soup is thick and is almost like tsukemen. Some people might not like it and could be too salty for them but it is just right for me. I also like the duck slice and pork slice. Both of them introduce an extra flavor to the soup. For the side dishes, I would recommend the fried enoki and corn wings. However, the wagyu sushi is mediocre.

I arrived at 5pm and was seated almost immediately. I ordered the Enoki Chips and the Spicy Signature Toripaitan Ramen. It was mediocre at best. The food came out quickly and the enoki chips were excellent. The Ramen was undercooked but the noodles seemed to get softer after sitting another 5 minutes. Most textures of the ramen dish were hard or chewy. The chaisu was sliced very thin compared to most ramen dishes that I’ve ordered in the past but it was still flavorful. The last time I was in San Francisco the line to get in was an hour long, so I’m glad I was able to get in today and try it…but I won’t return.

"My recent visit to Mensho was unfortunately disappointing. Upon interacting with one of the servers, I encountered sarcastic, pushy, and disrespectful behavior. Despite our attempts to communicate our concerns and understand a policy regarding ordering ramen, the server remained dismissive, unapologetic, and pushy. This experience completely deterred me from wanting to place an order. Feeling unwelcome, I decided to leave after only 10 minutes. It was particularly frustrating to endure this treatment when there was no line outside and no justification for such behavior. Overall, this encounter has left me deeply hesitant to return in the future."

Mensho Tokyo SF offers a unique experience in the heart of San Francisco, elevating the classic ramen to an exquisite level. Upon entering, guests are welcomed into a minimalist yet warm space, where the focus is clearly on the culinary art of ramen making. The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Tori Paitan ramen. The broth is rich and creamy, a result of meticulous simmering that draws out the deep flavors of chicken bones. It’s silky yet intensely flavorful, serving as the perfect base for the perfectly cooked, springy noodles.Mensho also excels in its vegetarian offerings, particularly the Tomato ramen, which presents a novel twist on traditional flavors with a broth that’s both tangy and savory, topped with a generous slice of cheese that melts into the hot soup. The attention to detail extends to their service, which is both efficient and courteous, making the dining experience seamless from start to finish. In conclusion, Mensho Tokyo SF is a must-visit for both ramen enthusiasts and novices alike, offering a thoughtful blend of traditional techniques and innovative flavors that push the boundaries of this beloved dish.

I have been walking by this place for years and finally stopped in recently since there finally wasn’t a line out the door. And now I have a new favorite go-to place. I had to try the wagyu ramen bowl on my first visit, and then I tried the spicy lamb one the second time I went. Both were so good, I basically inhaled them.

Some of the best ramen I’ve had in a while. Vibes were a bit cramped.

There is a reason there's always a line outside...the ramen is phenomenal! Quick and attentive service, but it's a very small space and they leave the door open even when it's rainy and cold out. Definitely bring a jacket if it's chilly out. Good selection of imported beers and other drinks as well. Definitely recommend for any foodie.
