California-style Cantonese cuisine! I really like the decoration style here, which always makes me feel better when dining here. The golden lotus chandelier and the gold and silver wire lamp are definitely the best decoration! šThe pastries here are also worth mentioning! Pineapple buns, wife cakes, black sesame banana cakes with miso sugar!
I had the tasting menu. Everything was great especially the clay pot rice with sole and the hen with broth. The rice was crispy and tasty. The hen was surprisingly tender and the broth was savory and flavorful. I also loved the vitality cocktail.

This is an interesting one⦠vibes and service were 10/10 but the food was just good, and at $300 a head we were definitely expecting GREAT. I donāt know if prices have gone up in the past year or something as it has never been this expensive in the past. We were a group of 5 and got the tasting menu, Peking duck, one bottle of wine (125), a cocktail each, and 2 extra glasses of wine⦠total including tip was $304 per person. The tasting menu was good, the dumpling and meat roulade type thing were both excellent, and the rest was just ok. The Peking duck was good but Iām perhaps biased having just returned from Hong Kong⦠it was good but not excellent. The dessert was not great, overly floral and lacking textural excitement. This was for my monthly supper club and we all agreed we wonāt be back- for the price there are far better options. 8 tables or empress by boon to name a few. Such a change from my experience a year ago⦠big bummer. Really respect the chef and what he does for Bay Area cuisine but ultimately this an insane amount to spend per person for just okā¦

The tasting menu was awful. I have no idea why they wouldnāt let us order off of their a la carte menu which had way better options when we peaked over to the table next to us. When we asked they said it was only offered at the bar.
The tasting menu was bland and we didnāt finish any of the dishes given to us. They couldnāt even get a soup dumpling right. Very very disappointed. Not to mention their 5 course cost over $160 per person.

so incredibly mid ?
1. The tea egg and sweet corn thing wasnāt anything special. Stop adding caviar to compensate for a lack lustre dish
2. Egg tart abalone was prob one of the better things we had. However, the abalone tasted fishyā¦. I would expect better quality from a michelin star restaurant
3. The soup dumpling tasted like a frozen dumpling from costco LOL
4. The eel sticky rice was probably the most disappointing dish of them all. Why would you FRY the sticky rice? It tasted burnt and wayyyyy too crunchy. I could barely bite into it
5. The hen ginseng broth was good.
6. I liked the almond peach sago dessert
7. We ordered a peking duck as well but I wouldnāt recommend it. It doesnāt taste anything like peking duck but more like smoked sausage. It was also WAY WAY WAYYYY TOO SALTY. I actually felt my risk of heart disease go up with every bite. I understand the restaurant was prob trying to do something different but pls donāt call it peking duck if itās not.
Overall wouldnāt recommend this place, even if it was a fraction of the price point lol
BEWARE if you order the fried rice. That portion is MASSIVE. Order it only if your group is 4 people. My friend and I ordered it and we ended up wasting half of the bowl because the bowl is so massive.

Quite expensive Chinese fusion ( not authentic Chinese) set menu not very impressive since I expected more delicious, rich Chinese food.
Parking: Two blocks away paid $60 bucks for 1.5 hours at FAIRMONT hotel

We weren't quite satisfied with the Autumn Menu, although the wine pairing was decent. While the food tasted good, it didn't match the price and the Michelin star for us. It wasn't contrived, which is normally a good thing. My favourite dish was the eel with rice. However, at around 10pm, right after we were served dessert, the waiter started to give us clear hints that the dinner was over and it was time to go, which was quite off-putting. I didn't quite get the urgency. Normally, you would allow guests to enjoy their wine for at least several minutes after dinner is over. After all, we had a reservation at 9pm and ended up leaving at 10:30pm, after our coats were hung over the chair at the next table.

High expectations underwhelmed. Had better dumplings at Din Tai Fung. Was a nice meal but not priced or timed right.
If priced better and not a Michelin star would be higher rated

All About Mister Jiu's And Keenu Reavees Itself... Well TBH Best Place And Safe To Eat ... Everything Has It's Own Taste...And Trust Me ...This Place You Will Come Again And Again Once You Just lick The Taste
Honestly, I feel ripped off.
Came here for my thirtieth birthday dinner! Had eaten at Mister Jius before, many years prior, closer to the opening of the restaurant. Before it received all of the stars and the write ups. I had a better time then!
The drinks and the duck were both impressive and delicious. The wine pairings were notable and the healing broth was a delightful experience. The sommelier was fun and personable!
However, for the price & the accolades.. I would expect better food and smoother service.
Most of the dishes lacked dimension and acidity. Things leaned umami and were on the salty side. The tasting menu felt flat.
Also we were seated at a small table for four people, which meant bumping elbows, dropping cutlery, squishing wine glasses in order to make room for the food.
Additionally, the pricing system alongside the tasting menu was confusing. And we collectively wanted more coherent information about the components of each dish as they were served.
For four people at about $200ish a head, I would want a more refined experience.
I have had better food for less money and better food for the same amount!
Iāve eaten at Compartir in Costa Brava, Maito in Panama, Nari⦠other 1 Michelin star spots. all much much better restaurants, on literally every level. I mention this just to draw a comparison between Mister Jius and its industry peers..
If you want a similar level of interest and arguably a higher calibre of dish in San Francisco I would suggest you go to State Bird or The Progress. Both much better & honestly more fun!

Food was yummy, the peanut milk cocktail is fantastic. It's an modern American Chinese restaurant. A little bit on the pricey side

Overall: Tasty food but a bit on the expensive side.
The extended reviewā¦
- We went family style and ordered a bunch of things. The standouts for me was the duck. These were entrees that were definitely more pricy but were definitely tasty and more unique.
- Friendly and attentive staff
- The ambiance is amazing. The decor is well curated and if the round tables with the inset lazy Susan were available to purchase Iād definitely consider it.

We recently visited Mister Jiu's to try their summer menu, drawn by its promise of light and seasonal dishes. While the flavors were refreshing and well-executed, we found the portions to be less satisfying than expected. Despite ordering a variety of dishes, we were still hungry by the end of our meal. The only part of the menu that left us feeling full and satisfied was the dessert. On a positive note, we were seated by the window, which made for a pretty romantic experience. We plan to return to try the regular menu, but based on our experience, the summer offerings are not the best choice if you're looking for a more filling meal.
