This place has a special place in my heart and when I lived in SF, we would frequent this place quite often for lunch. While they offer the standard fare of combo plates, the real magic comes from the items listed on their extensive menu behind the counters. They make these items fresh and they are incredible. You can also ask for things that may not be listed there as well. Some things I love:Dan Dan Noodle Soup- not your traditional Dan Dan, but this extremely flavorful, rich broth is complemented by chewy noodles, minced pork and fresh spinach.Any of their wonton soupsPorridge is also really tasty and they do it well! The ladies who work here are extremely sweet and really appreciate their hard work. Please support local restaurants and try this place, you won't be disappointed!

Would always go here for lunch when I worked downtown. Now when I'm back in the City I make sure to stop by for Beef & Egg and/or beef chow fun.

Tomato Beef. This has lots of onions as well and a sweet & sour sauce. I order this over a bed of pan fried noodles (special order). So delicious! I ask to substitute the tomatoes with more onions instead which causes some confusion.

I always enjoy their food, especially the Rock Cod in Black Bean Sauce.Lowered the rating because they started to charge a 15% "service fee" (even on a single order) and still have the tip jar out.Their need put up a sign stating that you are already paying a 15% tip. Also, order off of the printed traditional menu like the regulars do. The buffet line is for tourists.

one of the few cheap & decent chinese/taiwanese quick eat spots in financial district/ upper east cut area. attracts both art students and, white collar and blue collar workers. They are open for Lunch and Dinner Service, where Dinner is a more a la Carte menu. They have the typical chinese-american premade deal combos, (1 item, 2 item, and 3 item combo). Steam Rice is inclusive, whereas Fried Rice, Chow Mein, or Veggie base is additional item cost.Rice Plates are freshly made, must recommend the Ma Po Tofu (Mapo Tofu), Bittermelon with choice of meat Stir-fry, Shrimp & Lobster Sauce over rice, Crispy Noodle dishes, Chinese pancakes, and XO Sauce dishes. For premade lunch items, Basil Eggplant & Tofu, Orange Chicken, Salt & Pepper Chicken, Salt & Pepper Pork are a must try.

First time trying this place out. Nice little place. They have an eccentric menu. We went with walnut shrimp and house special fried rice. Tasted like traditional seasonings. Very delicious. Service was good and staff was friendly. Will be

11/2023: Ordered for pickup via Uber. Interior is very bare and atmosphere doesn’t feel like much but the food was great - hot, seemingly fresh, with enough spice to taste but not too much to burn.

My BF works downtown & this has become 1 of our favorite places to have lunch/dinner. Our go to is their combo fried rice, chefs special spicy chow mien (this is very spicy not for the faint of heart) and their Korean chicken wings extra spicy. We've also had their war won ton soup and their Mongolian beef and nothing has disappointed. they are consistent in their flavor & the lady in front is very nice. I highly recommend New Mings!

XO sauce based noodles and rice are our favorite. Taste has been the same since about 4 years

This is a hidden gem in the downtown area. It appears to be nearly empty most evenings when I stop by for my lunch hour. That's probably the same for most downtown spots though. Heck the local burrito shop closes at 2:30p! (They stop making burritos at 2 by the way) It's better to get those in the mission. Anyhow, the quality food mixed with the great value are what will keep me as a regular. But it's not like a first date spot. I don't know why that would be a factor but that's why I left off a star. Weak excuse. Favorite dish, you ask? Basil eggplant with chicken and prawns. They have also accommodated my request for tomato beef chow fun which I've never actually seen on a menu. Salt and pepper fish is a regular in my rotation but the boss lady suggested pork chops in that style and they did not disappoint. Be excellent to each other.

ILLEGAL HIDDEN FEE TO DINE IN. This fee is not told prior to dining in, I caught it my 2nd visit and will be reporting it to my credit card company! See attached. SHADY AND WRONG. Only in SF can they get away with this foolery

Poor service. Went to restaurant and no seating available so requested takeout. While walking towards door, table became available. I asked the lady cleaning table if okay to stay an eat. She said Takeout Means Takeout. Yes I know what takeout means but just spent $50 between 3 people and would be nice to sit down and eat. No. Okay. No problem. And I won’t be back.
