Truely one of the best dinner experiences in the city. It was my girlfriends Birthday and the view were breathtaking. The food was limited but amazing and the drinks were to die for. Our server was the best and she took very good care of us. Only complain I have is I added the occasion as Birthday but there was nothing special.

Had the marks classic, 2 eggs, potatoes, one piece of bread, and undercooked bacon with an OJ and coffee for $46…. I get it that this is a nice hotel, but felt price gouged for what was offered.Good service and ambience though which is why I gave 3/5 stars.

Disappointed in the food and service. We ordered the risotto and salmon. The risotto was runny with some peculiar seasoning. The salmon was small and rather tasteless. We asked for some bread while waiting for our order and the waiter acted surprised but said he would see what he could do. We ended up with four small rolls for three people. When I commented to the waiter, at the end of the meal, that we were disappointed in it, he really didn't seem to care and suggested we come back tomorrow because he wouldn't be working that day--not sure what that meant. I assured him we would not be returning. Not a restaurant that we will re-visit.

This is right across from the Fairmont up at the top of California Street at the corner of Mason and California.Anyhow the Cobb salad is delicious as is the margarita pizza. Also my wife enjoyed the great Riesling and I enjoyed a Heineken.

The staff was very helpful and polite, which is the only reason the "experience" was even worthwhile. The "Winter Chalet" bubble is located in the front parking lot of the hotel, so the entire time there are cars coming and going, guests walking in and out, and visitors taking pictures. That alone makes for a very awkward feeling. In addition, the food, while edible, was subpar and definitely not what I was expecting for a prestigious hotel. The carrots for the cheese fondue were definitely from Trader Joe's, the tomatoes were quite hard, and the cheese fondue was bland. The chocolate fondue tasted as if they simply melted a random chocolate bar - we ended up not being able to even eat it. For the price and effort we made for this "experience, " I would definitely not recommend this.

With a last minute friend coming in for the holidays, we opted for a hotel experience instead of trying to push something together at home. Thinking the Mark Hopkins would be ready for this, we kept it simple and booked the Nob Hill Club for 1:30pm on Christmas Day and was assured they had vegan options for my friend. We arrived at 1:30 and the host was surprised to have such late guest seating, even though he readily found the reservation. We were rushed to a table and told the kitchen was closing soon and we would need to order quickly, which only made it harder without being handed menus yet. With a holiday menu in hand moments later, again we were rushed to order by the host. A quick review of the menus revealed no single item called as Vegan, though several noted as vegetarian. When we asked if they could remove items, the host ran away and minutes later a proper server appeared and, while he too was rushing us, at least he made effort to create some vegan options from the menu. I was not vegan and ordered from the holiday menu. Ultimately the meal was very lackluster and felt rushed. We noticed several other tables receiving incorrect orders and feeling very uncomfortable. The salmon I ordered was dry and flavorless and the vegan options were simply chopped up vegetables. The server we had was nice enough and genuinely wanted to create a nice time, however the support behind him and having a sole server for the entire space had him franticly running around to appease everyone. For the almost $200 experience, a very disappointing holiday meal was definitely the low point of the day. Ultimately walking next door to the Fairmont yielded a much more lively and joyous experience and we even sat for tea in their lobby restaurant and felt much more at ease and relaxed. Sadly, the Mark Hopkins has just become a shell of the class and luxury it once was.

Disappointed! Service was slow. We had to ask three times for menu and then we were rushed to order because kitchen was closing. Our grilled cheeses were only cooked on one side. Only serve beer and wine and premade cocktails which were average. We were thankful to be out on Christmas Eve and appreciate the staff who worked, but based on previous reviews we expected a bit nicer

It would have been nice if the “bubble tent” was a bit hidden from the courtyard by some potted shrubs or live Christmas tree greenery. It felt almost like an afterthought having that plastic “bubble” right out there with the cars. Overall it was fun, funny and laughable experience.

The staff (especially Ana) was very attentive and caring. The food was delightful, and we were glad to discover a "new" (new to us) place to dine when attending a concert at Grace. Thanks!

I thought I made a reservation for the winter chalet and when we got to the restaurant they said I didn't. The employees said that they possibly had a reservation coming in 30 min and they would contact me if the reservation became open. I went back to the restaurant to find out the people who made the reservation said they wanted to come in 30 min later, but the employees weren't sure if they were actually coming or not. When the employee called me 30 more min later, they said the people who made the reservations were coming 15 minutes later. The fact that the people weren't actually at the restaurant at the time of their reservation and the restaurant actually said it was fine to push back the initial reservation was very poor customer service on their part. I will not be returning to that restaurant because they has very poor customer service, especially for our first time going there. The experience left a bad taste and was not great. For someone who works at a customer centered business, this was very poor on their part.

My friend and I had the panini sandwiches which we thought were very good and we also had yummy deserts. We sat at a very good spot by the windows, too. Would definitely recommend to friends for the food and ambience.

We loved the cute little picnic and dome. The service and picnic were great. Our one wish would be to not be in the parking lot as cars are pulling in and out. There is only one dome to sit in so you feel a bit on display. It was still romantic and cute and we are glad we had the experience

Overall experience was poor. Would not go back. Food was hot and cooked to order. Service was really poor for the quality of the establishment. Waiting on cutlery while you watch your food get could is unacceptable. Being passed your cutlery directly in a bundle is also unacceptable. Server was super nice and tried hard but he had no support. Menu is quite limited and a bit boring. Ambiance was terrible. Restaurant is ground floor, would only recommend appies at the bar on the top floor. Overall major disappointment for special birthday calibration.

The sourdough bread with dips starter was disappointing. The cheeseburger was a mixed bag. Mine was cooked medium as I requested, my partner requested the same but hers was burnt on one side, pink on the other. She also ended up feeling ill later that night, so for obvious reasons we cannot recommend. All in all not a good experience especially since we'd told them it was a special occasion.
