Plenty of vegan options (with more to come), incredibly tasty burritos, and the most personable and friendly owner/staff. The prices are also some of the best I've found in the city. I'll be back!
burritos were bomb! they were also huge because we stuffed ours! i would definitely come again.

I’ve been a diehard fan of Papalote ever since I was put onto their jarred salsa in 2015. It’s been the go-to for our family ever since.
It wasn’t until my sister moved to the city for college that we actually got the chance to stop here. I could go on about how their meat was amazing, the service was friendly, or the efficiency of their staff, but personally, I think the single most important ingredient of a good burrito is the salsa. And if the jarred stuff wasn’t great as is, it’s just all that much better fresh.
Not many notes here, obviously, these guys (read: artists) have made an excellent restaurant that is practically its own institution. If I had to make any notes for improvement, it would be to send some love inland; I can’t speak for everyone, but if we had something like this in Sacramento, I’m not sure I’d go anywhere else for a burrito.

Really Disappointing.
We've been fans of Papalote for years. This is the first order in several months and perhaps it was a bad night. Whatever, there were problems. Overall the food was meh. My memory is everything being flavorful. My Chile Verde burrito lacked flavor and frankly tasted watery. No chile flavor at all.
The other order was Carne Asada Tacos. I added Rice and Beans for which I was charged $4.75 each. I was expecting side orders of each. No, apparently that was for the included rice and beans - see the photo.
All in all it was the kind of visit that has totally put me off the place going forward. Try the food truck across the street instead.

Great food, friendly staff, always able to find seating
Multiple vegan filling options! Big burrito on a tomato tortilla....so good!
We got the breakfast burrito (huevos a la mexicana with pinto beans and cheese) and the achiote tofu burrito (with refried black beans and cheese). Both burritos were delicious! The achiote marinated grilled tofu was really flavorful, as were the huevos. And the house roasted tomato salsa is everything everyone says it is. We got a pint to go. The cashier was very friendly. Fast service, too!
We'll definitely be back for the vegan mole.
I’d come here just for the Papalote sauce! Great little stop for some good Mexican food if you’d rather sit in a bright and colourful atmosphere.

I found this place because I was looking for a vegan burrito and I was not disappointed! I tried the soyrizo.
The burrito was huge and so tasty and filling. The salsa was outstanding and I want to bathe in it. The staff and owner were so friendly and welcoming.
In the future, I’ll try the shrimp burrito because I’ve heard good things.
There’s an outdoor seating area and plenty of tables inside.
I ordered a chicken burrito, all I ate was beans and rice, very disappointed.
always yummy
At the recommendation of Adam Savage, we stopped by while in the city, and tried out the place. AMAZING FOOD. The shrimp tacos were delicious, and my wife said her burrito was also delicious. Highly recommend to anybody looking for delicious, authentic Mexican food.
Really tasty vegan and vegetarian burrito options in an authentic and cozy atmosphere.
