It was one of our favorite spots until they started charging for the chips and salsas.

Cocktails were good not exceptional but their burrito is a star. Staff was nice and the vibe was really chill too.

The food was great, but the waiter got our order wrong. It may simply be a mistake, otherwise the waiter was accommodating in seating us outside with the heaters on

This is unbelievalble - in short the worst Mexican food I ever had in SF (and probably anywhere). I have never written a 1* review beofore. 1) despite almost an hour time between when I put my order in and it not being an 'asap' order but timed - I got there 7 min late becasue parking was hard and the food was not ready - it was another 10 min wait 2) I only live about 5 min away and at home the food was barely warm (so probably it had been sitting there for whatever reason) - also the taco's were very soggy 3) what's up with the pineapple? it's in everything 4) the food (tacos pastor, tacos carnitas) had very little flavor, the quesadillas carnitas was also super soggy. The tacos papa con chorizo was ok. Never again!

Give this place a try. I loved the atmosphere. It was dimly lit inside, and there was outside seating too. The servers were very friendly, and attentive. The duck meat torta I had was amazing, my wife didn't like the grilled chicken wet burrito she ordered, it I thought it was really good. I recommended her to get a chicken torta to go, and she loved that. My son also got a beef torta which he loved too. Try the torta, you won't be disappointed.

We did take out and everything was soggy. Quesadillas re-crisping efforts in a frying pan worked ok, âcrunchyâ tacos could not be salvaged. And queso fundido was like eating solid cheese, looks and tastes nothing like fundido should. I think that item was the most disappointing.

We had a party of 8 ask for a table at 5:35 on Saturday, got seated by 5:55, but then the actual entrees did not come out until after 7. Two of our group had to leave by 7 so they canceled their orders, and the person who brought their food out cursed when we told him (not at us but generally). Also, they ran out of sangrias (their most popular drink) by 6 on a Saturday! which was disappointing.

The food is hit or miss. Hints of tacolicious but w cheaper ingredients. Drinks are good, w a happy hour menu. Food is so so and feels overpriced. The chips and salsa are great. Skip the chicken. The torta is ok, coleslaw has way too much mayonnaise. Their fusions donât really hit. the classic torta is better. Their tacos use cheap gmo tortillas. Pozole is ok, didnât finish it. I would say stick to the steak and youâll get the best of them. But still, thereâs better out there. Long are the days of la Palma organic tortillas, I miss their food from those days.
This is a good place for drinks and appetizers. Try Gilbertâs for Latin fusion down the street. PH doesnât have good Mexican.

Papito in San Francisco is a cozy, welcoming spot with a menu that balances flavor, freshness, and creativity. The overall service was attentive and friendly, making the dining experience smooth from start to finish. The staff checked in often enough to make sure everything was good, but without being overbearing, which always makes a difference.
When it comes to the food, everything we tried was impressive. I had the Vegetariano, which was hearty, flavorful, and satisfying without being too heavy â a great choice for anyone looking for a tasty meat-free option. The chicken tacos were another favorite, perfectly seasoned and well-portioned, not greasy or overloaded with toppings. Their quesadillas stood out as well: they had the right amount of cheese and filling, balanced and not overly stuffed, which kept them delicious without feeling overwhelming.
The drinks complemented the food perfectly. The spicy mango drink had just the right kick of heat to balance the sweetness, making it super refreshing and unique. Along with a few beers, the overall mix kept the meal fun and flavorful.
Papito does a great job of keeping things authentic yet approachable, offering a dining experience that feels both elevated and casual. Between the good service, satisfying food, and unique drink options, itâs definitely a spot worth revisiting when craving Mexican food in the city
