First and most importantly, the onion in the onion rings do not slide out after biting, the batter really seals in the onion.

Don't come for the atmosphere since the food speaks for itself. Everything is made to order and pretty fresh; I watched my fish and onion rings get battered and fried. The batter is a bit like tempura, no bread crumbs and lightly crispy.
The food was decent. I got the combo for$19. Didn't find the oysters very good but prawns were good and fish okay. It's takeout only, took 20 minutes due to several customers ordering, one person working. No cocktail sauce available, I couldn't believe it! The takeout container was too small and couldn't remotely be closed. He handed it to me like that, as if the need for a bag wasn't totally obvious. Rushed and not very friendly. I love this place. It’s the kind of spot that makes this city so special. No fuss, just beautifully executed fried fish and chips, etc. It’s hard to do what this gentleman does. The genius of it is in not trying to make it something it’s not, keeping it ‘très authentique.’ Some people don’t get that, nor will they ever. It’s not T.G.I.McFunsters (RIP Bourdain); it’s Piccadilly on Polk.
