Update 2024:
Been coming here almost once a month for 3 years now, and today was the worst service experience I've ever seen.
The servers were rude the minute our group walked in. Were told to wait outside for 40 mins in the rain, and they kept seating other groups that came after us. Kept checking on other tables and completely neglected us.
Such a shame that we couldn't even enjoy a meal.
This was an embarrassing experience especially since I brought guests speaking highly of the restaurant. Ended up getting charged a huge tip since we qualified as a "large group" for the trashiest service ever.
2021:
By far the most affordable yet amazingly tasty brunch spot in SF.
French toast that will rock your world.

What a huge deception. Service was very rude and food was cold. When I made a remark to the manager he told me to never return ! Well that says it all.

I don't understand how to send you a message, so I will edit my comment here.
First of all, plain jane was a restaurant where we loved to have breakfast. We came for brunch on Saturday and sat outside. Since all the tables outside were empty, I asked the waiter to change our table because the chairs we were sitting on were very uncomfortable. There were 4 of us but the waiter only changed my chair as a solution and told us that we could sit inside if we wanted. The waiter's attitude was sarcastic and uncaring. Afterwards, I asked someone else to change our table and they did. Because everywhere is so available! The same waiter continued to take care of our table. However, their behavior continued in a very rude and unhelpful way. This was very disturbing because our Saturday brunch, which we came to enjoy, ended badly. When we asked the waiter to change the by-product in our order, he rudely replied 'no'. That was very rude. Also, every time we thanked him for what he brought to the table, he turned away without answering. Normally I never care about such things, but this was not to be ignored!

The person serving wasn’t kind at all.
He gave very aggressive and sarcastic answers to our questions. I'm thinking of coming again.
Thank you

The service was great and friendly. The food itself though was pretty mediocre. We both ordered the red velvet waffle and fried chicken. The chicken was deep fried so long there was barely any chicken left in it. I can't quite give it a 4 star either because the restaurant echos so loud. Everyone was literally screaming at each other! Definitely needs some sound dampening in there to maybe get everyone to chill out on the screaming a bit.

I was excited to go try this place, but unfortunately didn’t get the chance to. Their hours say they close at 2pm. I showed up around 1:25ish, and they didn’t want to take me, they said their kitchen closed. They should change their hours to 1:30 if they close at that time - instead of showing 2pm.
Pretty disappointing.
Service was amazing and the food was even better. The place was very aesthetic! Coffee was good a lot of alternative options for milk! and
pancakes were

Very cozy brunch place. They have unique coffees such as Extreme toffee and Red velvet which are a pleasure to have but they are maybe a bit too sweet. For food, the portions are huge and everything is very delicious however what we had was quite oily (at least the chorizo scramble was very oily). I will certainly visit again but maybe skip the oily options…

Valencia Street is a haven for bakery, coffee, chocolate, and brunch lovers. My friends and I never miss a good gathering in this area, and we’ve made Plain Jane a regular stop. This chic and modern yet Californian casual spot is always welcoming and impeccably clean. The food is amazing, with beautifully presented plates and artistic decorations. The flavors are well-mixed and balanced. I can’t recall the exact name, but their lobster Benedict was incredible!

Went to this place awhile ago, pretty damn good. Very packed and if you don't mind having breakfast with the people sitting next to you then this little spot is perfect for you lol. Portions are good.
