Food was too bad. Everything was not fresh. The clams, shrimps, beef and vegetables all tasted bad. 3 of us 4 felt uncomfortable after having the lunch here. Will never visit again and will recommend people to avoid it.

Not recommending this place:
1. Wait for 50min for two dishes and the restaurant is not even very full
2. The slice Pecking deck is not sliced at all. They just cut it and not slice. Not sure why this need to wait for 50min.
3. The food is overpriced and not very authentic as Cantonese food

I've been to R&G lounge multiple times and none of the time disappointed me. It's a bustling restaurant with absolutely decent Chinese foods (although can't compare to Chinese foods in China, in the U.S, this would consider pretty decent). Some dishes to recommend:
- Steamed clams and egg
- Scallops and steak cubes with macadamia nuts (absolutely stunning)
- Honey spareribs
- Ox tail stew in clay pot
- Beef brisket and turnip in a clay pot (so yummy!)

Fantastic!! Salt and pepper crab and Singapore noodles were absolutely fantastic. Wonderful service and atmosphere. Would recommend if you’re in San Fran for a day like we were.

A pleasant surprise to see they have a gluten free menu as my friend is gluten-free. Quite a lot of lunch dishes and rice plates to choose from. The shrimp with snow peas (gluten-free) is delicious!

Be careful and check your credit card transactions! This place is shady! My dinner bill is below $50 but they charged me $571!

Yes.

If you've got at least 6 people, highly recommend ordering family style from the banquet menu.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants outside China. In fact, their cuisines are at the top even among the top restaurants in China. Their chefs really know how to cook Chinese food well. It's no wonder there are always many customers waiting outside (so reservation is highly recommended). Not only Chinese customers love their food, but there are also always similar amount of non-Chinese customers dining there, attesting that good food is loved by everyone.

R&G Lounge remains a go-to spot for classic Chinese banquet-style dining in San Francisco. Recently visited for a birthday celebration with family, and while there were a few hiccups, the overall experience was great.

**Pros:**
- Spacious upstairs seating, perfect for larger groups
- Standout dishes: deep-fried noodles with chicken, brisket with turnip, Peking duck
- Unique offerings like the sautéed veggies with mushrooms
- Attentive and responsive service

**Cons:**
- Chicken corn soup lacked flavor
- Some initial order mix-ups with the fried rice

**Detailed Review:**
Seated upstairs in a nice dining area, we started with the chicken corn soup, which unfortunately fell flat with a metallic taste. However, things quickly improved from there. The deep-fried noodles with chicken were a highlight, featuring a delicious savory gravy. The brisket with turnip stood out as a unique, tender dish.

We experienced some confusion with our fried rice order, but the staff corrected it promptly. The final version with chicken and salted fish was tasty. The whole Peking duck was a classic crowd-pleaser, and surprisingly, the sautéed veggies with mushrooms became an unexpected favorite.

Service was attentive throughout the meal, quickly responding to all our requests. Despite the initial soup disappointment and rice mix-up, the overall quality of the food and dining experience was high.

**Bottom Line:**
R&G Lounge continues to deliver solid Chinese cuisine in a classic San Francisco setting. While not perfect, it's still a reliable choice for traditional dishes and unique offerings. Ideal for group dinners or introducing out-of-towners to SF's Chinese food scene.

**Tip:** Don't miss the deep-fried noodles or brisket with turnip – they're standout dishes that showcase what R&G does best.

Food was very good. Service was great too. The deep fried dungeness carb was a must. Wait time at weekends might be long. Food portion was a bit less than what we'd expect for the price though.
