RICE&SHINE is a relatively new Thai restaurant on Geary. It is considered the best Thai restaurant by some, with an owner who is native Thai and takes pride in her cooking. Most food is prepared personally by the owner with help from Thai staff. The homemade sauce is notably spicy, and spicy items are authentically hot. Dishes taste very much like those from Bangkok.
Specific meals praised include the rice and pork leg stew, fresh spring rolls, pad thai, a special lamb dish, boiled chicken with ginger rice, hot wings, duck curry, Pad Siew, and Massaman curry. Sides like cucumber salad, coconut rice, and traditional coconut pudding dessert are also delicious. The hot wings are tender, veggies are fresh and spicy, and the curry pairs well with pineapple chunks.
