Wow just wow. This has got to be the world's rudest Safeway. The ladies in the deli are awful. Asked them a question about seafood since no one was there and they just dismissed me twice and said not my department. Sorry but please hire people with better customer service not from a dim sum restaurant. Not racist I'm chinese and already have a lot of patience with rudeness. My elderly mom and I just stood there waiting at seafood and no one ever showed up. The fact that the two departments are side by side, and the deli women acted as if it was a different planet. Then after I complained again they checked and confirmed no one at seafood, they told me to go to customer service!

I'm writing this for my elderly parents who went on their final visit at the Taraval Safeway today. Much of their complaints are similar to previous customers - dirty store, unstocked shelves, no one to help them when looking for an item not on the shelves, spoiled food, unpleasant security guards who follow you around, and incorrect charges on their receipt by the cashier. The final straw for them was the verbal abuse by store workers when they didn't know that someone isn't working at the customer service counter, and being yelled at to leave the area. As long-time residents of the neighborhood, this store location has declined and they would rather drive to South San Francisco to shop for groceries than walk over to their local store. The Noriega Safeway is slightly better but not by much.

I have been going to Safeway for quite a long time and have never felt so unsafe to step into safeway due to one particular security guard.(tall, skinny , African American). He always follows me around in the store , stares at me, gives me a creepy look, and always stands in front of my job. he walked right up behind me while i was getting a donut and started "checking me out", and calling me beautiful and asking me where I'm going and what time I start. He Is a security guard and should not be making females scared. He needs to be fired. I do not feel safe .

This is a pretty decent Safeway. Small selection of organic produce but you can still find the common ones that most people need. The aisles seem really narrow or maybe it's just me. Most of the positive energy I'm giving for this Safeway is the fact that I was able to find those Safeway Hash Browns! Not all Safeway have them and I've checked 2 others recently and they didn't have them so I was really happy to find some here. They arent as many hash Browns as there were before but theyre a little bigger in size. You get your usual selection of stuff. It has a deli and hot foods sections like other Safeways The parking lot is above the Safeway and theres a huge elevator and some stairs that lead to the store. Employees seemed friendly and checkout was quick (but I did go on a Thursday afternoon). Overall decent experience and would come again if I'm in the area.

They produce is absolute garbage. I mean that literally. Not even suitable for the homeless.

NEVER visiting this location of Safeway again. I grew up going to this location but it's seriously gone downhill. Besides the fact that they usually don't have the 1-2 items in stock that you would go there to buy, the store is the smallest, dirtiest Safeway i've ever seen. Spoiled items on the shelves - I don't even know how they can sell some of it! Meat that looks rotten, meat cases that look like they haven't been cleaned since the 90s... but worst of all... the staff here are so very obviously RACIST. They will stand around and chit chat right in the front doorway whilst you try to scoot by and won't let the customers in comfortably. If they aren't even gonna bother greeting customers (I don't expect this but I don't see any other reason to be standing in the walkway), they could stand elsewhere and chat instead of right in the entryway while people are trying to go in and out. Secondly - I went with my FOUR items in my basket to a checkout line that was open with no one else in line. SANDY did not even look up or acknowledge that I was standing there. For several minutes. Just kept looking down at her ads/receipts/whatever paper she was holding, whilst I stood there feeling like a complete moron. So - I left and went to the next checkout over. Meanwhile, someone that looked more like Sandy and less like me, went to her checkout line, where she promptly dropped whatever other nonsense she was doing so she could help that person with checking out their groceries (i.e. doing her job - customer. freaking. service.) This is the last straw. If i'm desperate to have some Boar's Head items from the deli, i'll go to Noriega location where things are marginally better and I can get a decent coffee while I'm at it. Otherwise just steering clear of Safeway in general and heading to Costco or Trader Joe's or even Target where the grocery prices are more reasonable and the food is actually still edible and clean, and where the checkout people do their actual job.

Lmao I was shopping (technically doing cash back) and my Safeway mom Sandy taught me to give money to my mom rather than to my girlfriend. Bruh I don't even have a girl friend LOL

This location has been declining over the years. Stopped by today looking for ham that was on sale. The deli case was empty! I tried to ask one person behind the deli counter and she pointed her finger away from her (there was nobody else around). I waited and finally saw another female and I asked about the ham and was told "not on sale". I showed her the ad and then she said "we don't have it at this store". Bunch of BS. Determined, I went to the Safeway on Noriega and got what I wanted with much better service.

A store that is dedicated to a clean and organized place for all your needs. My rating is based on size and availability of certain products, but the staff is friendly and very helpful, should you ask.

10-26-21 - 8:36 pm: Self checkout closed. 1 check stand open. At least 30 people waiting in a line stretching almost the length of the store. What is going on here???

I had the worst experience ever in a Safeway in all my life. I went to 730 Taraval in San Francisco. Looks like this Safeway don’t allow support animals to get in the store, but there is not a sign when you get from the parking. The security guard yelled at me and make a scene when I was just trying to pick up my medicine at the pharmacy before they closed! It was a nightmare. I never felt worst. Then I had to do my grocery shopping in another location, where I was more than welcome with my dog. I just felt terrible, sad and unsupported for a brand I have trusted for a long time. Never coming back and posting this everywhere I can.

I tried really hard to find gluten-free bread and I walked to the deli and the person there said like they're on lunch or something and I asked the security guard and he did his best to help but unfortunately gluten free bread isn't kept with the bread, and I saw the lines had 15 people in them, and I was so anxious that I just left my stuff in the fridge area near the front and left. On the way out the guy was pushing shopping carts and then I had to shout so that he wouldn't hit me with them. I'm never going to come back and I would recommend other people avoid the store too it's clearly understaffed and they also clearly don't have stuff for people who can't eat gluten.

Been standing at the deli area For a while, people look clueless not doing anything . Nobody is helpful at all. I ask a lady to get someone and she just stared at me and passed a few times. Everyone is here is f****** useless specially this area. Sushi people literally will stare at you even if you are having a stroke and just ignore you. To the rude sushi lady , Get another job because you really suck at doing something so basic like getting help.

New to the area and saw this Safeway close by. It's on the smaller side and having what you want can be hit or miss. The majority of clerks were friendly and helpful. The main problem I see is this store is very limited because of it's size. If you need essentials you'll most likely find them as long as you're not too picky on specific brands. I noticed people hammer sale items pretty hard and those items get wiped out pretty quickly. Overall, if you need something in a pinch you can try this spot, but if you're a picky shopper I would check out one of the bigger stores.
