Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! Large selection of flavors. Ice cream was some of the best my wife or I have ever had! Highly recommend for anyone!
Very sweet, a bit too sweet for an old guy like me. And a little on the soft side. Enjoyable and very popular with the local theater going public. We walked here amid a crowd from nearby Davies Symphony Hall.
Vegetarian options: Five vegan options when we were there, but two looked temporary. Also small cups were available for dogs. I never noticed that at an ice cream shop, but I can't say I'm an authority.
Dietary restrictions: Vegan options
Wheelchair accessibility: There is no step from the sidewalk, so I'd say this shop is very wheelchair friendly.

Delicious Gelato in San Fransisco.
I really love the freckled mint chocolate chip, which is suitable for vegan. The waiters & waitresses are so friendly and fast response. U can ask to try several flavors. There is also free water.

The ice cream is not good. I tried the pumpkin and sweet potato casserole. The vegan ice cream is so icy and the dairy ice cream is not creamy.

Staff was nice and the ice cream is good, but the place its self is very uninviting, there’s no warm ambiance or music of any kind and like one small table in the whole place. I know it’s just an ice cream shop but I kinda feel like an ice cream shop should have that dinner feeling, like the ice cream shop that Jeff Daniels operates in the movie “Pleasantville.” Even in black and white the place was very warm and inviting. This place doesn’t have that even in color.

They are very unusual flavors, and they change monthly. Christmas flavors are awesome 👌
Kid-friendliness: What kid can say no to ice cream!

Salt & Straw is one of those places I get why people love—it just doesn’t quite do it for me.
The waffle cone smell wafting out the door? Genius. They’ve got the marketing game locked down, and their seasonal flavors are definitely eye-catching. But once I actually try the ice cream, the flavors either feel kind of “meh” or veer into “this is a little too weird for me” territory. I can appreciate their creativity, but it’s not what I’m craving when I want great ice cream.
That said, the location is perfect—right in the heart of Hayes Valley, so it’s a fun stop while you’re exploring the area. But in a city with so many incredible ice cream spots, this one doesn’t make my personal top tier. I can appreciate it from afar, but I’ll be heading elsewhere for my next scoop.

Delicious ice cream with some vegan (i.e. dairy free) options and tasty waffle cones. Friendly staff who still offer samples.

I absolutely love ice cream and I'd heard about this place for years, so I was very excited to try it. Unfortunately this place didn't live up to the hype.
They do have a lot of rotating seasonal creative flavors which I appreciate so I think I'd go back and give it another try sometime, but I'm not in a rush.

Wow. Some of the best ice cream I’ve had — which is saying a lot as a Wisconsinite. I had the dinner roll and olive oil scoops. They’re known for their unconventional flavors — which turned out to be incredibly tasty and creative. Great stop after dinner. Will definitely be back!
Absolutely the best of the best! I hope it opens in Japan soon. It’s so good, it made me love eating ice cream outside at night for the first time. The handmade ice cream is insanely delicious!
