I had the cream of asparagus soup and the apple walnut salad; my fiance had fries and their lingonberry pancakes. Food was very good, though I think the vinaigrette with Granny Smith Apples together was too sour. Service was perfect, and atmosphere was enjoyable.
This place has been around for a long time, and it shows in the best way, with authentically old pieces all over the interior. The food is excellent if a little pricey (but what isn't pricey in this city?) and the service is fast and friendly.
Sears Fine Food has been serving San Francisco since 1938, an absolute institution just off Union Square. The 18 famous pancakes, light, fluffy, absolute heaven in every bite. The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, perfectly poached, silky salmon, hollandaise with just the right tang. And that thick-cut bacon, crispy on the outside, meaty and rich inside, proper bacon! Everything executed spot-on. A classic San Francisco gem still at its finest. Absolutely amazing.
