The tiktok hype is real, Shoji’s fondue style burger is worth traveling to San Francisco for. The staff was very accommodating (i got there right before the kitchen was about to close and was able to be seated and put a quick order in. I might go back here before I fly back to the east coast.

Nice ambiance inside, average drinks for the price. The main detractor was the service. Even when the café wasn't busy, service was not attentive, with the servers just standing around. Also, we were told that even though we have a reservation, the tables may need to be shared with other groups. This should be something written upfront when making a reservation (this was several months ago, unclear if anything has changed since then). Overall, very average experience.

Come here for both Cafe Shoji and Bar Shoji. Both have excellent customer service and experience.
Cafe Shoji— very friendly baristas who care about ensuring the customer has their ideal order. Highly recommend the flat white, drip coffee, and matcha einspanner. Their flat white is actually my favorite I’ve had in the US, and the drip coffee is probably the best drip coffee I’ve had.
Bar shoji— food, drinks, and atmosphere are amazing. Great for a fun night out.

Great new addition to this area, often has a line out the door. The Einspanner is popular but my favorite is the affogato, which rivals quality that I’ve had in Italy. Very well designed space and I hope they’re here for a long time to come. Haven’t tried it for dinner, but people say good things as well.

It used to be super nice, reservations were working. I don’t know who on earth changed this. Now you need to be on the line to order, doesn’t matter if you would like to stay or if it’s something to go. I used to like the exclusivity. Now when I see a line, I don’t stay there. SO DISAPPOINTING!!! Despite the new disappointing service the crew is still amazing !!!

need to come back for the matcha but enjoyed the cocktails. shoji serves tasty cocktails and food with a good ambiance and nice place for a date or catching up with friends. everything is on the pricier side though
noguchi: old fashioned riff, solid but wouldn’t recommend if you don’t enjoy old fashions
kohaku: whisky sour with matcha, nice bitterness and creaminess
chips and dip: loved the dish, fish was fresh, creamy and acidic
katsu sando: solid dish with well fried chicken and tasty bread
fries: great shareable snack and loved the seasoning
matcha affogato: highlight of the night! must try!
The matcha einspänner was delicious. I went on a Monday at 11 and while there was a line, it moved quite quickly and I received my drink in about 5 minutes. The to go cup seemed a little smaller than I saw in some of the pictures, but nonetheless the drink was creamy and not overly sweet; I will come back.
