Expensive drinks but you're on the rooftop of a hotel - the highest rooftop bar in San Francisco, so that's the price you pay! Nice views when the weather is good. Also really freaking chilly so bring a jacket or two. And sunglasses. Only one bar with 1 main bartender and 1 assistant. Line can get really really long. I love to buy two drinks at once so I don't have to wait in line again after I finish my first drink, LOL! The workers are lovely. I come here so much they recognize me and know exactly what drink to make me. You have to get a keycard from the doorman or front desk when you enter the hotel to take the elevator to the top floor. The public restroom is on the first floor or second floor, so you'll have to wait for the elevator and go back down when you need to go. Don't forget the keycard! Limited selection of drinks + pricey drinks, but it's tasty and I'm sure you can find something you like. Sometimes there's jammin' music and sometimes there's no music. Haven't quite figured out what's going on there yet. There are a few standing tables by the balcony and 2 areas with couchy seats, but they're most likely already taken by the time you get there. 5 star experience but I knocked a star off due to each drink being basically $16 :^)

This is a great location and offered beautiful views. I however wish they can offer some better/louder music to make the environment more exciting and inviting. Setting up some better tables and chairs for guest would help as well. It's cool for the view and a drinks but it can get chilly and people are always trying to take pictures so you will run into someone in your area and invading your moment. Not that it's an issue to all. But to some it might be. I only gave 4 stars because I feel they can improve the experience a little better:

I love views. Any time a bar with a view pops up, I wanna check it out. Since we were close by, I suggested we check out Spirits in the Sky. The three of us got here on Friday, May 24th around 6pm. Funny enough, another group of my friends was actually here, so we joined them as they already had a table. *Airmail: cruzan extra aged rum, honey, lime juice, prosecco ($16) *Angels Aught Three: casamigos mezcal, caged heat, lemon juice, strawberry puree ($16) *Bulleit Rye ($16) I believe we got the cocktails and liquor above. The drinks were light and refreshing. My rye on the rocks was a standard pour. I did find the drinks rather pricey though. Maybe I should be use to these $16 cocktails, but these were very generic for drinks at that price point. So the vibe of this place? Like I'm hanging out on someone's beautiful balcony. It didn't feel like a real bar at all. Actually, the "bar" part was a makeshift bar you could set up at someone's house. (Kinda like those bars I would set up at private home parties when I used to be a cater waiter.) Very unofficial. But I gotta say, the views were amazing. They definitely delivered there. Weird space to have a bar. Almost like you're crashing someone's penthouse balcony party. Pricey drinks, but a nice view.

I feel like not many people know about this rooftop bar, but it's definitely worth checking out! The drinks are pricey, but the views are out of this world amazing!! The bar is located on the 40th floor of the Loews Hotel. The patio area is pretty small and can pack up quickly especially during happy hour times. The bar tenders were great and even came up to our table to take the order for our second round of drinks. I especially love bringing visitors here to check out the views and it's certainly quieter here on weekends.

Breath taking views of the city and golden gate bridge

I was in the city again and wanted to show this fantastic view to coworkers I was with. Showed up at 7 pm and they said it was closed due to extreme wind. We went elsewhere in the city with a rooftop bar from 8-10 pmwith very minimal wind and way better service. Call before you go because they may make up an excuse about wind and close early.

The set up is simple, the drinks are pricey, but this place has the best views of SF of any bar or restaurant I've been to. As long as you have the right expectations (and come on a warm day!), then you'll enjoy your time here and especially the beautiful views. Is this a fancy bar or lounge? No. What it is is a small outdoor patio area on the 40th floor of the Loews Regency Hotel with a small mobile bar stand. There are a couple of couches for limited seating as well as a couple of small tables near the edge where you can drink and enjoy the view, but that's really it. Drinks are definitely overpriced. Signature cocktails go for $16, beers for $10, and wines for $15, to give you an idea. I got the Vapor Trail cocktail. It wasn't particularly well made, but it was fine to sip while my friend and I chatted for an hour over amazing views of the Transamerica Pyramid and Coit Tower. They also offer complimentary caviar tastings, which was a nice touch. There were two different kinds on the day that I went, and the guy serving them said we could come back for more if we wanted. Advice: Come on a warm and sunny day (but always bring layers just in case) and plan to get a drink or two here.

2 stars for the view and our nice bartender. But make sure you come stuck up and don't have fun. Got kicked out right after taking this picture.... happy pride

Let's call it what it is - small deck on the 40th floor with a mobile bar cart. Totally surprised they would market this to the public. Loews - I'm so embarrassed for you. :( 1 star for the view.

Like most of the other reviews, the highlight of this "bar" is truly the view. It brought this review from a 2 to a 3. It's incredible and I caught it on a beautiful, clear day. However, the rolling bar cart they bring up is obviously not hitting any of the right notes with people. Between the four people in my group, we were able to try the four cocktails on their menu and no one was happy. I had the Vaya con Dios and it was very watery. The cocktails were more expensive than the hotel's other bar, Bear and Monarch, which has a menu that is more appealing. If they struggle to create proper cocktails that are worthy of their prices (as high as the bar itself), they should stick to beer and wine. Our group also caught them on a night when their credit card machine wasn't working (not sure how often this happens) so someone had to run the credit cards downstairs and then bring them back up... causing a 15-20 minute wait to close out a tab. On a brighter note, when you do get tired of your watery drink, the Bear and Monarch has a much nicer menu just downstairs.

Beautiful spot with the best views I've seen so far at a skybar in SF. I took my husband here as a surprise and he was just blown away (a little literal since it can be cold and windy- bring something warm to cover up with!!) You need to ask the front desk for a key card to the sky bar - which adds a depth of mystery to the surprise. They also had free caviar tastings, which was delicious. It's not the type of place to spend an evening - but one drink is nice to take in the view. Seating is very limited and there is not an elaborate food/snack menu to purchase a meal.

Great views (when it is clear) but space is small, can get windy and the drinks are rather expensive. Stick with a glass a wine or beer - more of a one drink kind of place.

Love this outdoor SF rooftop bar's views! It's on the 40th floor of Loews Regency & these views far surpass the other outdoor rooftop bars in the city. The main patio has close view of Transamerica building with Coit Tower & Golden Gate bridge visible as well. The other overflow patio has direct view of Salesforce tower. I prefer the main bar views as it's OG San Francisco with none of the newer, glass buildings in sight. Love it! Came on a Saturday around 5pm. No line!!! Got a key from the valet, headed to the elevators & straight up to the bar. Didn't have a long line to get drinks either. This is a seasonal, pop-up style bar. There are a few standing cocktail tables & two patio lounge chair/couch areas. My only complaint is that it would be nice if they had heat lamps or blankets because it does get windy/chilly. Definitely bring a jacket! Martinis were good, bartenders were very nice & attentive. The bar has bottled beer (no taps), wine & cocktails. I didn't see a food menu but Bear & Monarch restaurant is located in their main lobby. Will definitely be back soon!

Should call is sky patio. We paid $34.63 for a vodka, soda and run and coke which was crappy run and gross. There was no bar, was a cart with very limited alcohol and the ice he was using was from a plastic bucket with 3 inches of water in the bottom he needed to drain out of his scooper before he put it into your glass. View was nice, patio was about 350SF with no seating at all. Bring your own drinks for 1/3 of the cost.

If you're thinking "Ooh it's a nice day today, we should grab happy hour outside," go someplace else. This spot gets zero late afternoon/early evening sun, and the 40th floor wind chill is no joke. It's very, very cold up there, and they have no heat lamps. Would be 1 star but for the view, which is pretty unparalleled as far as SF bars go. But it'e like a tiny pop up bar, along the lines of what you'd see at a wedding. Really limited menu, and even for that they ran out of ingredients (AT 5PM ON A FRIDAY). Worse, they didn't tell us until after we got our drinks, and we mentioned one tasted funny. At $16 a drink, I would hope for more. Also had the $15 skewers, which we're basically 3 toothpicks with a couple bits of cheese & meat. Very underwhelming.
