A true step back in time! A relaxed, neighborhood restaurant that doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. Great portions, very consistent food at good quality and reasonable prices to boot. Right in the heart of North Beach, this place should be on your radar for a cozy dining g experience.
Manj! Great mangias, great service, and although I don't like wine, my girlfriend's dad loved the wine he had. The house salad is big enough to be a light main, and tasty, and it has olives but if you despise olives as much as I do they'll omit them if you ask. The gnocchi are tip-top, and the specials are great, but low key they'll also serve a great steak if that's what you want.

We enjoy the ambiance, the service, and certain items here (garlic cheesy bread and gnocchi!), but let me tell you, this lasagna is a crime. I think I counted three layers of pasta which varied in texture from rubbery to burnt to a crisp on the edge. There was just a hint of meat sauce. The rest was cheese. For $28 it doesn't even execute well on the minimum qualifications, least of all take those extra steps that you might expect from a mid-priced lasagna. The service staff...
