I came here a couple times and a while ago my sister got a single scoop ice cream, later she checked her receipt and noticed she got charged for a double scoop. We tried contacting them and asking for a refund or something they said they couldn’t really do anything about it and was rude. Really bad experience.
Tucked away in the heart of San Francisco’s Japantown, Sophie’s Crepes is a long-standing favorite that’s been serving delicious Japanese-style crepes since 2000. The cozy little shop, with its bright yellow trim and casual charm, has an inviting atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and welcoming.
I ordered a Japanese Special crepe, matcha ice cream with red bean paste, and it did not disappoint. The crepe was freshly made, warm, and slightly crispy on the edges while soft and chewy in the center—just the way it should be. The matcha ice cream had a rich, earthy flavor that paired beautifully with the sweet and mildly nutty red bean paste. It wasn’t overly sugary, which made it even more enjoyable.
Even though the shop was fairly busy, the service was quick and friendly. There’s a small seating area inside and a few tables outside where you can sit and enjoy your crepe while people-watching or just soaking in the Japantown vibe. It’s a fun spot to take a break, especially on a warm afternoon.
Whether you’re in the mood for a sweet treat or just looking for a little comfort food with Japanese flair, Sophie’s Crepes is definitely worth a stop. The quality has remained consistent over the years, and it’s clear why this place is a local favorite.
Pretty good dessert
Not bad. Little bit overpriced
Had been coming back again and again for years! The best crepes in town.
I love their cream so much, not too sweet or greasy, so delicious!
Crepes a little bit crispy , so good !
Crepe was good. I ordered a sweet crepe with strawberry, whip cream and ice cream. However the customer service here was not as sweet as their ice cream. Customer service was non-existent. Korean or Japanese women in her 30-40s was the cashier. No greetings or acknowledgments. They also charge you 4% extra for no reason despite the crepe being expensive already. And on the side were two greasy and sweaty cramped guys with no hair nets working on the crepes. The working environment seems a bit tight for two adult male, in my opinion.
Rude and unfriendly service. My sister needed napkins cause the ice cream was running down her hand and she gave her ONE singular napkin after she said “no, napkins are only for customers” and my sister said that we are ordering… also my Nutella crepe was just crepe and no Nutella. Proceed at ur own risk.
Very decadent crepes with Asian flavours.
not very good

cold, unfriendly, and pushy customer service. The cashier and people cooking treated us like a number.
As a European, I cannot approve the quality of the crepe itself. It tasted like it was rushed by being cooked on high heat and had a cracker/dry texture.
Never again.

The cashier who handles many things was cutting fruit with her bare hands. I didn’t watch the process but I am hoping she washed her hands.
In addition, I want to make everyone aware of the 4% “SF surcharge” charge they add to their bill. They already add on for toppings you want to add so this meal became more expensive. I also didn’t notice this until I looked at my receipt. According to numerous online articles, there’s something named SB 478 that bans restaurants to add on to their displayed fee and could even be illegal as of 7/2024. I’m unsure of this but if so, be aware of this and ask them to take it off. It’s not much but from the articles I read online, it is not good business practice.
IN LOVE😍

Weekday visit(~12 pm):
Inside the Japan town mall, decently priced, quick service, great grab and go option.
- Ordered Banana Nutella Crepe, the crepe was good, but little flaky in the end. In my case, little Nutella and a lot of banana, though it’s healthy, I’d prefer more Nutella.
- Place was not busy, ordered and served in <5min. Just one table for dine in inside, but plenty of seating outside, common for surrounding food places.
