Second time coming here and the food is still as incredible as the first time trying it!
The cioppino is so flavorful. The seafood tastes very fresh. I love dipping the (complimentary) bread in the sauces/broths as well.
If you love to watch some (cooking) action and are a party of 1 or 2, I highly recommend sitting at the bar. I thoroughly enjoyed eating while watching the chefs do their magic in the open kitchen. They are super efficient, clean, organized, and great at multi-tasking. Super impressive to watch them cook the very food I'm eating!

I had Cioppino ‘to go’(Or I had to wait for like an hour) and I highly recommend it.
It was more casual than fancy, but the food was brilliant.
Food worth the price and if you avoid those busy hours, you probably won’t wait that long.
You probably just wanna go here to have seafood instead of having ‘tourist trappy’ clam chowder at Pier39.

Not to be dramatic but this place has the best seafood i’ve ever tasted. Ordered the cioppino and 2 dozen oysters. Not a single thing to complain about. Service was amazing and the atmosphere felt like grandmamas house during thanksgiving. My friend has been asking me for months to go and i’m glad i did. Worth any hype or price in my opinion.

Food was good, decent portion for the price, and seafood was fresh. Waitress was friendly and did not see her much through out the meal. Definitely will go back for their dishes. We ordered oysters, sauté shrimp and scallop, crab cioppino, clam linguine, New England clam chowder, all were satisfying and fresh.

Friday night at 7pm turned a 35 minute wait into an hour and 10 minutes. It was SF chilly 🥶 and we were hungry. Once seated at the counter, the service and food were 5 stars. ✨ And the wine bottle prices were quite reasonable. 🙂 Heads-up this SF seafood gem 💎 doesn’t serve coffee or desserts.

Came here for Ciopinno, wasn’t disappointed. This was the best seafood stew we’ve had.

We had an incredible experience at Sotto Mare in San Francisco! We ordered the cioppino and a dozen oysters, and both were absolutely outstanding. The cioppino was packed with fresh seafood and bursting with flavor—one of the best I've ever had. The oysters were fresh, perfectly chilled, and served with just the right accompaniments.
The service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Despite how busy the place was, everything came out quickly, and the atmosphere was lively and authentic—classic North Beach charm.
If you're a seafood lover visiting SF, this spot is a must. Come hungry and ready to be impressed. We'll definitely be coming back!

Feels like a place run with heart.
Cioppino tastes really good, not too sweet.

“The best damn cioppino!” Is not an understatement! All the seafood was especially fresh. I’ve never had crab quite so buttery before. Grilled seabass had very crisp skin but remained juicy.
Service during a recent visit was especially good. Just a wonderful local restaurant.
