This was one of the best seafood meals that I had in a long time. The portions are huge. I had the scallops brocolett & carrots for my main course along with a crab cocktail & a bowl of New England Clam Chowder. I highly recommend this place!

5 of us are outside for a birthday. The cioppino was not like I remembered and it had pasta now as filler. Price didn't go up much in 10 years but size is smaller and not so impressive now. The outside ambient was cold and regret not sitting inside. Service was excellent.

Everything about our experience here was phenomenal. The wait wasn’t long, the atmosphere was lively, multiple staff tended to us, and before we even got our food. The west coast oysters were great and the Cioppino was so flavorful and full of seafood.Shoutout to Connie, our waitress, for making our experience the more worth while. Your energy was very bright. Highly recommend!

First to the whiners...-Cold bread; who serves warm bread? I haven't felt any in years.-Risotto; Soto Mare is obviously a fast-paced seafood venue thus risotto is not a wise selection being it's preparation is a laborious, time-consuming endeavor. Use your brain cell, rook!-Tourist trap? Funny how posters claiming such never provide more than this confabulated label. Total falsehood, Biden.-Long wait to be seated or no reservations for less than 4?Umm... too funny; could it be you were there on a weekend and you never worked in food service? Try a weekday lunch or shutup & grab some pine, meat. Now, allow me to complain; from my first visit Soto Mare has been guilty of making any fresh or frozen store-bought seafood and 99% of other restaurant's seafood inedible. When I want scallops or bay shrimp or prawns or linguine aglio olio, I drive directly to Soto Mare. Also love the magnums of ice water, readily available paper towels & condiment/oil racks. The open kitchen rocks as does the ever-friendly and adept staff.

It was a very delicious restaurant.I ordered soup, risotto, and salad. The salad was very delicious with lots of seafood and fresh shrimp. The soup had a strong seafood flavor, and the seafood stock was very strong, and the large crabs and shellfish matched the tomato-based soup, and the soup with lots of ingredients was hearty and very delicious. The flavor of the risotto was well absorbed into the rice, and the rice had just the right amount of firmness, making it delicious till the very end.The staff are also very kind to customers. The service was also good.If you go to San Francisco, please come and eat here.

So so belated.Going to the United States has always been a dream. This is a so belated review of Sotto Mare, because I didn't want it to end by leaving a review. We trudged in before 7pm on a weekday during the Xmas season 3 years ago. It was warm, cosy and the service staff was in the midst of changing shift. We saw the high fives, the banter which we only see in movies or tv shows. We sat, and ordered the seafood stew.... It was so good... Rich in broth, filled almost to the brim with subterranean friends, paied with rice.We loved it. Me and my partner thought it one of the ravishing highlights of our 4 nights in SF....maybe for once but thank you. Our one time in San Francisco, we dined and am so happy.
