The food was delicious!

Great staff and atmosphere. The server kindly described the dishes and answered questions.

It is a small restaurant, reminiscent of mom and pop shops in Italy.

It's definitely a place to go with good friends and family.

Kid-friendliness: Ask the server about marinara or butter pasta. But some kids do appreciate items off the regular menu or the specials, so it depends on who's paying :) personally, kids who behave and enjoy really good, healthy, "grown up" food are the lucky ones!

Surprised I was able to walk in on a Sunday night. Menu was approachable with prix fixe and a la carte options. Enjoyable meal w/out the pretentiousness and queue that often comes with Michelin status

We returned to SPQR after a five year absence. We had a great time at SPQR, and some of the dishes were wonderful. The staff took great care of us at the bar, and it was a memorable evening as we closed the place. However, we came in to enjoy the five course pasta tasting menu and ended with a bill of $281. Some of the dishes we ordered. Yet, dessert arrived unannounced, and we ended up paying for that. My glass of wine cost $58. I should have been warned ahead of time.

San Francisco is an outrageously expensive city. I know that, and SPQR has very good food. Was it $281 good? Maybe, but I like to know what I’m paying for ahead of the expenditure.

Memories lowered this rating. I have eaten at SPQR in a distant past, and remembered fabulous food and wonderful times. This lunch, while certainly good, didn’t match my remembrances.

With a modest decor and well meaning but amateurish service, SPQR is far from what is expected from a Michelin starred restaurant. That’s okay, because Michelin now recognizes ā€œcasualā€ doesn’t effect the kitchen. However, with Michelin pricing, the food should be fantastic at SPQR.

The three course pasta tasting at SPQR was very good, but not great. Certainly, the pasta creations were unique, but it should be all about taste, and the dishes were more creative than delicious. Maybe my palate is too pedestrian. Donna loved her dishes. Perhaps SPQR shines at dinner, but memories can play tricks. Only time will tell.

Amazing dinner! We did the 5 course pasta menu + added on the extra pasta. We also did the wine pairing. Food was great. Service was amazing as well.

ONE OF THE BEST IN SF - BY FAR! I have been going to SF for many years and SPQR is a clear go to choice for the highest quality of foods in the City. Amaing flavor, texture and great atmosphere.

My secret is going when they are serving the Tasting Menu of 5 pastas. It is absolutely incredible - a must.

My second secret is to get a seat by the kitchen at the bar overlooking the chefs - a wonderful experience and some reat conversation with Stefan (exec sous chef).

Wines are all from Italy. Good and earthy.

Service is amazing and very on point.

Highly Reccomended!

Shockingly expensive for very mediocre food/service AND we were still hungry at the end. We ordered a bottle of wine, and our waiter actually took it away to taste test it HIMSELF, before giving it to us. For a $63 bottle, it seemed very strange that he’d drink so much of OUR bottle? I’ve never had that experience at any other restaurant.

The food was extremely mid. $35 for a portion of pasta the size of a lemon with a heap of powdered Parmesan cheese and supposedly some ā€œtruffleā€ somewhere, but where it might have been, I could not tell you. The burrata was overpriced and very hard instead of creamy, but the stone fruits were admittedly tasty.

I think the waiter could tell we were not impressed, because he brought over some ā€œcomplimentaryā€(?) doughnut-type things and some chocolate cookies. But all in all, it was $237 for a forgettable experience and a dreary atmosphere. the Tailor’s Son is right up the road with similar prices and 20x better food/wine. In conclusion: do not recommend.
