I’ve had the strawberry cake from Sunset Bakery in SF several times now, usually for special occasions, and it never disappoints. The sponge is always light and airy, the cream has just the right balance of sweetness, and the fresh strawberries give it that perfect refreshing touch. It’s one of those cakes that feels celebratory without being too rich. Whether it’s a birthday, a family gathering, or just a little treat, this cake is a nice treat.
Delicious pastries at a great value—super inexpensive for the quality. Everything was fresh and tasty, and I would absolutely go back. Surprising that nearby bakeries draw hours-long lines when this spot is better in both taste and value and no line.
Note: CASH ONLY! Tasty treats for cheap prices! I tried the custard slice, egg tart, and pineapple bun- all good. Very quick service too. Not many savory vegetarian options. Heads up there’s no filling in the pineapple bun and it doesn’t really taste like pineapple. I saw another review which said this place had the best pineapple buns in the city- I don’t know about that but it was decently good, especially for the price. Also heads up that everything you get will be tossed...
