Sushi On North Beach

What a wonderful place! We're very picky with our sushi, and this was great. The fish were all really good cuts, and the rolls were well made. The servers were also super friendly. I recommend their eel (donburi or rolls were both good textures/flavors)

Man, this might be the best bang for Buck sushi restaurant in the Bay area. All food was crafted with care. The sashimi had great cuts, larger than expected. They had soy paper options for a friend who couldn't eat seaweed. Presentation, and cuts were great as well
They have a solid sashimi meal, that, with the seasonal upgrade contains 19 items for only $36.(2025). Filling and delicious. It also includes a mediocre side salad, and an above average miso soup. I didn't mind, as the sashimi was excellent, and even contained one excellent toro cut, and many other great items.
I also shared a roll. The rice was decent, but by no means bad, especially with how fast things come out, and the rolls presentation was excellent.

I think my only knocks are that the Sake options were sparse, and the rice could be a bit better. Minor complaints, as the pricing is excellent, and the staff is great.

Sushi was mediocre. California rolls in particular were not quite right. Just not much flavor, and the rice wasn't good - mushy almost, and not sticky. We also had several other rolls that were just ok. Edamame and tempura were good.

My last day in San Francisco and I’m so glad this was my dinner place. Food was delicious- I’m a sashimi fan. Plus the sake options were fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful in that beautiful San Franciscan way. If I’m lucky enough to return to San Francisco I’d look forward to dining here again 💕

I'll review the service first because it was great. The servers were friendly and attentive and the food for our large group came out quite quickly. However, the food was a clear miss. I ordered the chicken katsu curry, along with rainbow and 49er rolls. The katsu curry came with a side salad and miso soup. The soup was okay but the tofu cubes in it were still cold in the center. The salad was good. The curry was served lukewarm, wasn't very flavorful, and had a unpleasant chunky texture. The katsu itself was okay. The rice in the rolls was either prepared with too much water or not enough vinegar to hold it together. The imitation crab filling in the rolls was extremely dry, like it needed significantly more mayonnaise or cream cheese. This was the worst imitation crab salad I've ever had in a sushi roll and it's not close.
