Food is full of flavor and owner is very generous with the portions. One of the best Ethiopian places in SF!

We loved the food so much that we came two days in a row! The Beef Berbere Banatu, Derek Tibs, Special Kitfo, and all the sides were absolutely incredible. The service was excellent, and the owner, Elias, was the best host. We’ll definitely be coming back again!

Excellent Ethiopian food! I have dined here several times over the years and it is always very tasty. Glad they reopened here at this location. I hope to come back again soon. I had the beef tibs.

Stumbled upon Tadu Ethiopian Kitchen while exploring San Francisco and decided to give Ethiopian food a try for the first time — and I’m glad I did! I went with the Meat Combination plate, featuring minchet abish, gomen besiga, and lamb alicha wot. Each dish had its own unique flavor, and the injera brought everything together beautifully.
The spices were well-balanced — flavorful without being too spicy — and the textures were satisfying. It was a totally new experience for me.

Decent Ethiopian food. Not in the best neighborhood though.
I'm another person that was impressed with how clean and pleasant the small restaurant is considering the location. My first impression was good. The food is fresh and delicious. The cook was generous and I enjoyed looking at the beautiful photographs on the walls as I waited for my meal to be prepared. Prices are pretty good. I probably would have spend just as much money on pizza.

The Tadu restaurant on Ellis just reopened! My husband and I have been dining at and ordering takeouts at Tadu, both locations, for years and we are super thrilled that Ellis reopened. The food is just amazing and the service / quality too - we highly recommend it!

Tiny place but awesome food. This may not be in the safest area in San Francisco. We went in a group in the evening, had dinner and left before it got dark. We got the injera and meat and vegetarian dishes. Everything was good.
My boyfriend & I usually get the veggie platter and it NEVER disappoints. Great lunch option, if you want something filling and healthy!
I'm pretty sure this location is closed. I've tried to go during "business hours" twice already and it was completely closed (gate pulled up and everything).
I have eaten at both Tadu locations several times over the years and both offer delicious food. Prior to the location that opened in Mission Bay, I'd often order delivery from this location. For those unfamiliar with the area, it's not very appealing / safe-feeling, so be careful if walking around here. The food itself is very delicious. My favorite is usually the cabbage and potatoes. They have some interesting dishes with beets too. Overall, I've never had a bad experience with their food.
