I can't really call this place a hidden gem in the mission but for what it's worth, the ratings do justice to how great the food is. The cuisine and flavors and unpredictable and interesting. The ambiance is jovial, inviting, not fancy but bustling. Service is knowledge and has good insight into menu and secret menu. My favorite dishes were the mole, tacos (minus the fish one), and the churro with coconut ice cream. Highly recommend this spot, the mole is incredible! Prices are also reasonable for this type of culinary experience. Presentation of the dishes is innovative and pleasant on the eye. Daily happy hour from 4-6 is also a hit.

I dropped in for a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon. I was in the mood for some mole. I have a dairy allergy but the staff was happy to serve the mole enchiladas without the cheese or crema. The dish was fantastic. You can taste both the sweetness of the chocolate and the spice of the peppers. And the rice on the side was perfectly executed, not sticky or clumpy like most places. I also ordered a glass of Sangria, which was ok. Next time, I would order a Mexican beer. This is serious Mexican comfort food.Dietary restrictions: They happily prepared their famous chicken mole enchiladas without dairy.

Loved all the organic chicken on the menu and the handmade tortillas.Our server on a Wednesday nice was maybe the nicest, fastest moving woman I’ve ever met. It was my husband’s birthday and they made us feel so glad we decided to come there to celebrate.We will be coming back again to enjoy the cute parklet outside with our dog, I’m sure!

Great food and cocktails. Nice atmosphere set by a decoration that is very colorful insinuating that you are sitting at an outdoor patio. Kind and efficient staff. I will definitely go back.

We visited don aji during brunch time. We had the mole enchiladas and the churro.Overall the food was outstanding. I don’t have much experience with mole flavor, but i think it was delicious. The churro was amazing, warmy, crunchy and accompanied by a well done hot chocolate sauce.
This isn't your typical Mexican (American) restaurant. Oaxaca has some incredible flavor profiles and Donaji delivers with refined regional dishes that are packed with authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. Great service and atmosphere completes the experience! Handmade tortillas hold together some of the best tacos I've had in SF. We ordered the pork, fish and mushroom versions and also had some stellar guacamole and refried beans. I'll be back!!!

Ambiance has bopping Latin music, sweetest service and AMAZING food. We opted for all vegan chorizo/potato options as I was dining with vegetarians and it was so good I need to come back now to try the chicken and other meat options. Absolutely smashed it all

Coming from someone from Oaxaca and who occasionally goes back, the food here has zero Oaxacan flavor. Tiny portions, flavor just isn't there. The presentation is kind of nice if that is what matters to you. There were only two other tables occupied, yet it still took about 7-10 minutes to be acknowledged. Also pricy for whay you get.
