The food was okay. The fried onions were a bit soggy from the oil when we got it. The drinks and the atmosphere were the best part for sure. I would give it 4 stars but the service wasn't very good. Maybe the bartender was having a bad night but he gave my friend a pretty bad attitude.

I love a place with a lot of history, especially when it can lean into that history instead of paint over it. The Fly Trap is one of those places: from the moment you walk in, you can tell it's been there a long time. From the ceiling and the walls - it still captures the charm of restaurant that's more than 100 years old without feeling gimmicky. It has an authentic charisma that a lot of modern restaurants try to mimic.
The food is great. We started with a bowl of hot olives which at most places would wind up being your run of the mill olives you can find anywhere. The Fly Trap offered a nice assortment which was a nice surprise. The mains were great, as were the mocktails we ordered.
Especially happy with this pick because we'd flown in late and we're having to grab a late dinner. With most places closed or closing, The Fly Trap was able to accommodate us without issue.
Lastly, I love the little alley beside the restaurant. It's incredibly enchanting.

Upon arriving the hostess was very rude. Seemed like it was an inconvenience to her to have to seat my party. From there the service was terrible, we had to get up multiple times to ask for water. We needed up having to clear our own table and bring the dishes back to the wait staff as no one was clearing after we ate. Several peoples food came out wrong, and one even came with the wrapper still on the butter on the piece of meat.

Super cozy and inviting place with great food, drinks, and service. We came here for an easy dinner before a movie and would definitely come back again.
It was a cool place with a great wine/beverage options and very good food
Good food, service was not too friendly. Servers seem not happy to be there working. Just dropped off food and cleared the table.
Very pretty and relaxing place to sit and hang out. We had rigatoni, roasted chicken and a passion fruit margarita. The cocktail was the star of the night, really tasty and nicely balanced. The roasted chicken was fine, nothing special, but the rigatoni was honestly terrible. Hard to say if it was fresh or premade, it just did not taste like good pasta. My stars are mainly for the ambiance and the nice service.

Service was great, and I loved the atmosphere. However, the burger was pretty tasteless and oddly soggy.

I ordered fried Brussels sprouts that was burnt black and they still served it to me . My chicken was so dry I almost choked on it . Soda's were from the tap and it tasted like the carbonation and syrup was not mixed correctly. Everything was burnt and overcooked. Wouldn't try that place again nothing to say I'd go back .
Dined with some friends before a show and were excited at trying a new place in the City. After being seated and checking out the menu, we all were surprised at how affordable the prices were. Then the ordering began. Service was unfortunately slow and inattentive. Though he seemed nice enough, it took a while for the server to take our drink order and even longer to receive them. My drink was supposed to have banana liquor in it and the reason I ordered it, but it tasted just like a regular iced coffee. I asked my friends who said their drinks were just ok and nothing special. Appetizers were decent, but small portions (hence the lower prices). The calamari was tasty, but a little too greasy. Two of my friends ordered the gnocchi for their mains, and said it was dry and too doughy, and the sauce lacked flavor. My other friend had the chicken which was dry and overcooked. I had the shrimp risotto which was actually very tasty. Once we were all done, we were waiting a while to get our check, and at one point, the server passed by our table, saw that none of us were eating, and just kept on walking. I was like, WTH? Really? We normally order desserts, but we skipped it this time. No surprise.
Usually like this place. But this visit was a bit of a disappontment. To its credit, food was tasty, as always. Cocktails were delicious (though the kid's lemonade at $7 was crazy). But... service was so-so. Barely saw the server. But the other staff was very attentive. We ordered fries to come with the meal, but they came out even before the Appetizer. The real deal killer. I ordered pasta. And when I asked for grated parm for it..: they brought out a little serving of 1-2 tlbs... which is fine.. but they charged me for it! I have never been charged to get Parmesan for my pasta at any restaurant ever! Including my prior visits there. And when I asked about it, the waitress just smiled and shrugged her shoulders.
This is a fantastic spot in San Francisco. The ambiance was truly captivating, and the place was adorned with an impressive decoration. The drinks were excellent. I ordered the meatballs, which were just okay. The service was decent, we finished our drinks and it took about 15 minutes for the server to inquire if we wanted to order anything else.
