The house is one of my "GOTO" restaurants when I'm in the city, the fish is always fresh and the food is good. It's become so popular that the menu has become a little stale for old-timers who have been there before their newfound fame. It's also extremely hard to get seating if you don't plan ahead because it's become so popular on yelp. The scallops are incredible for the app, and all the fish dishes are incredible... Such good flavors and the fishes are always cooked perfectly. Everyone, I brought from my company to this place really enjoyed the meal.

What an amazing find. We have been coming here since it 1st opened. It was always our 1st choice for celebrations and meals were always fantastic. Love the steak and wasabi noodles and the salmon rolls. This restaurant was one of the gems of san franciso!

I am saddened that this place has closed! This was definitely a go to spot for lunches with my coworkers. Even tho I would always go with my safety dish, wasabi noodles, I've tried their appetizers as well which was also mouth watering. So bummed that I wasn't able to stop by before they closed. Definitely a staple in SF. I remember going here when I was young too before I moved to the East Bay (which was well over 25 years ago). Sigh....no more wasabi noodles =(

We found this little hole in the wall due to it's well rated reviews on Yelp! I'm glad to say that this place definitely lived up to its expectations. I am from out of town, and I have to say this is one of the best asian fusion restaurants I had been to since my arrival in San Francisco. My only concern is that the restaurant itself is quite small. Considering how popular they are, I assume it is always as crowded as it was when I had went back in November of 2019 (before the pandemic). It would be nice if they could figure out a better layout for the way the tables were set up throughout the restaurant, but other than that I have no complaints on the food. Delicious.

Heartbroken. That sums up their closing after twenty six years of serving wonderful food to the community. My first experience was at their satellite location on 9th Avenue, as a hip friend introduced me to your food. After a number of years, I brought family and friends to this location and enjoyed many meals, mostly celebrations, over the years. When they closed that location, I was not aware or conscious of the original North Beach location. Another friend who worked the area reintroduced me and I was overjoyed to see the familiar friendly faces again. This again became our eating groups' gathering place for holidays and birthday celebrations, many coming from other parts of the world. I was hopeful that, after shelter in place passes, this would be one of our first meals to celebrate. Sadly, the announcement was posted and my friends' and my hearts sank. We will forever miss your grilled sea bass, curry and garlic noodles, and that killer misoyaki black cod. My final adieu ( thank you, Angela and Larry, for so many wonderful meals over the years. Also, thanks to your always helpful and courteous staff who also always treated us like family!

Truly sad to see you close and wishfully hoping you open again one day soon.Introduced The House to my girlfriend and it's been a favorite of ours ever since.Hands down my favorite dish is the Clams in Spicy Miso Broth with an extra order of the buttery grilled bread to soak it all up. It was a Special that was very special.Thank you for all the delicious meals. You will be missed.

I am surprised at myself that I haven't reviewed The House yet! But, I came here because I heard the news that The House is permanently closing. This restaurant was a favorite of mine in the city, and it's truly a sad day for foodies. Everything here was superb - from the food to the service to the ambiance to the plating. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to dine here multiple times in the past 5 years. I hope the owners well in their future endeavors... and hopefully, for us foodies, we'll be able to dine here again if we're so lucky.

Dear The House,I just recently read your post on Facebook and it's unfortunate that you guys will be officially closing due to COVID-19.Thank you again for the wonderful hospitality and food whenever I came here. You guys will truly be missed by everyone who had the chance experienced the food and vibes here.

I overall thoroughly enjoyed The House. It's quite a small space and gets packed often, so reservations are recommended (made mine easily through the Yelp site). Service was fast and attentive, and the staff is very nice!We tried quite a few dishes:Ahi tuna tartare - this was just ok, my least favorite dish of the night. Tartare is hard to make a GREAT dish out of, and this one was still a bit "fishy" for my taste and flavors were too typical for what I was expecting.Seared scallops - this was my favorite! Seared JUST the right amount and the scallop meat was perfection. Lovely touch of fresh flavor with the microgreens and ponzu sauce.Steamed mussels - another great dish, presented more like a classic but flavors are all there. It's like the staple mussel dish you can always expect.Grilled octopus - a pretty small dish but packed with some crunch - both from the octopus (not overgrilled, so the meat was tender yet had a nice crunch) and the tempura potatoes. Again, great flavors and good choice of pairing w aioli sauce.Creme brulee with passion fruit - the brulee is ginormous. Couldn't finish between two of us. It's slightly on the sweeter side, and more jelly-ness to it than I'd imagined or wanted. The citrus flavor from the passion fruit complements the coconut brulee well.

Fantastic food all around. However, needs to expand the dinning area. Everyone too close together.

This place was a nice fusion place with freshly made items including poke. They did work with seafood well and the place was very quaint and comfortable despite being very crowded on the weeknight we ate there. For apps, we had the poke & scallops. Happy I tried it as both were done perfectly but nothing outstanding being from Hawaii where variety in a poke is abundant. For my friend, who grew up and moved away from Hawaii, she is very pleased to have it. I totally get that. For the main course, we had the fish with the wasabi noodles. It has a few elements that I did not care for - i.e. udon noodles... but the build of the dish was good. Not enough to make me ok with eating udon noodles again (I really don't care for those things!) but it was beautifully balanced. Everything was fresh, freshly prepared, well balanced, and tasty so I have absolutely no complaints. One thing I thought was outstanding is how they made such a small space feel spacious. I did not feel cramped at all, and judging by the overall pleasantness of the other patrons, they shared in my experience of a sense of warmth and comfort in the restaurant.

Nestled between a small divey alley and a lingerie shop, borderline northbeach/chinatown, is The House, the apex of asian-fusion restaurants in SF. The layout of this restaurant is very San Franciscan, 15 tables max, so prepare to sit close to your neighbors. Although it's a small space, I enjoyed the space while dining with the gf. The meal felt cozy, warm, and intimate. Despite the noisy interior, we enjoyed great conversations accompanied by vino. First timers at The House might get intimidated by their menu, which includes salmon egg rolls and wasabi noodles. However, every dish on the menu seems to be meticulously created and prepared. The deep fried salmon egg roll with hot mustard is unlike anything you ever ate, but the combination works, and probably one of my favorite apps of all time. In the crab cakes, you get different textures and an explosion of flavor all in one bite. You get pickled radish, crab meat, fish roe, and crispy texture....umami. Kurobuto pork chop with taro chips and pomegranate sauce. Meat was cooked to perfection, slight hint of pink, juicy and moist, when paired with the savory and sweet pom sauce, instant favorite. I immediately wanted seconds. Another heavy hitter from the house is the sea bass with wasabi noodles. The fish literally melts in your mouth, I'm warning you, dishes from The House will cause gluttony after effects. I've been to The House numerous times for meetings, birthdays, celebrations, etc. The creativity in their menu, the flavor combination, and their service always bring me back.

Make a reservation before you go, because if not you will need to wait for hours. Love this small but amazing restaurant! This restaurant make you feel like home and everything tastes so good! It doesn't have much selections on menu but all dishes are well prepared, price is also very reasonable! Portion is towards the small side and since the restaurant is very small, expect you can even hear what the table next to you, plus, very hard to find parking, other than that, great place I recommend if you are looking for a place full with character and good food!!

In our most recent trip to San Francisco, as the foodies we are, me and my boyfriend decided to try The House for a date night. We were able to get reservations thankfully, as it was very busy on Saturday night and the restaurant is not very big. We order the grilled shrimp salad to start, which I was a huge fan of. I think this is one of my favorite dishes from an Asian fusion place is how they get creative with the flavors in the salad. Next we ordered to meals to share, the halibut and the flat iron steak with noodles. The halibut was very fresh and had a crispy decorative topping that complemented the fish and was layered on a white sauce. The flat iron steak itself was a slight disappointment, when you go to a nice restaurant with only a couple entrees on the menu, you expect each one of them to be outstanding. I would have liked to see a different kind of steak or more flavorful as the flatiron was nothing special. The noodles however are the star of that dish. I could have ordered more of them!
