In the beginning they were going to sit me at a handicap table and I'm dining alone. I asked for a smaller table as the sitting arrangement for the big table was just odd. They took my order rather quickly and appetizer/ drinks was on the table within 15 minutes. It was oysters and beer so prep wouldn't be too long. Fresh oysters were clean and didn't have a fishy smell. One of the sauce had a creamy mayo taste. Wished they would have included horseradish instead. Of course Guinness is Guinness- my go to beer. Had cocktail Vodkatini with lemon twist- Grey Goose. You can't mess that up. Dinner was the rib eye steak- cooked to medium rare and met the temperature but too salty. It ruined the taste of the beef plus it was not thick meat and didn't have the nice caramel color. Maybe because they grilled it. Also had the Quilt Cabernet. Good wine for the price point. Bold and deep plum color. It was very dark so you can't really enjoy the ambiance or marvel at the Pied Piper painting from your seat. The servers were friendly and quick service. If you're staying at the hotel, it is convenient but I would not seek out this restaurant.
We dined there, no one knew we had a reservation. Very rushed. Very casual. Servers etc, did no speak a drop of English which made the experience a NO for returning.
We loved our meal at Pied Piper and would have had many more but only stayed 3 nights at the Palace Hotel and ended up dining outside the hotel more. Dining at restaurants isn't always easy with a 5 and 2 year old but everything worked well at Pied Piper. Service was quick and friendly, food was delicious and fresh, cocktails were innovative and delicious and the ambiance was also great. Prices are super reasonable for a city hotel.
Food and service was excellent here. Some of the cocktails were a little overpriced but food was priced very fairly for what you got. The Coastal Chowder was incredible. Wagyu burger with egg on top - chef's kiss. Really would return next time there is an event in the area.
Love this historic warm venue. Friendly attentive service and the smash burger is outstanding.
Ambiance is great, lighting could be dimmer, service top notch and prices for drinks are very high.
Great food and outstanding service is a warm bar setting. The Smash burger is one of the best in the city.
Warm traditional elegant bar with attentive service and delicious food. The branzino was perfection!!
Beautiful restaurant/bar. Always great service. Asian waiter, don't recall his name, he is outstanding!
I had read a previous bad review on this restaurant but the assured me that it was due to a problem they had solved. The meal was really low quality! The four people in our party have the same opinion. The sea bass was chewy, salty and had a terrible combination of flavors ( cooked with chorizo 😳). It was also too fishy, not very fresh at all. The desert could have come from a frozen container from Trader Joe's... nothing special! And the salad... we could have skipped that no problem. The only good thing was the soup. The service was very slow at first... they took 45 minutes to serve us. And after we complained they brought us things too fast as they brought the fish while we were having our salad. The ambiance was anything but classy with people in several tables hitting their plates with the utensils to call the staff's attention. I would not recommend this at all.

Absolutely horrible experience at their New Year's dinner. Would not recommend to anyone. Food was not great. Our poor waiter did his best but he was given far too many tables to handle.
Pied piper is our favorite SFO bar. Made NYE reservations to be sure of a table in bar and dinner. Seated in bar, handed a Fixed price dinner menu only. No drink included. Ordered drinks and asked for time to review menu. No bar snacks delivered or offered. Made meal selections and waited. New customers arrived and ordered from regular menu! And bar snacks delivered with drinks. So with no reservations, they had the evening we had wanted! The waitress was not trained to listen when we asked questions. Kept taking husband's bread plate away. Final straw was dessert, delivered something we did not recognize as what was listed on fixed menu. She could not answer or questions. Waited for another waiter to help. Brought each of us another plate of dessert, supposedly menu was not list of options, but a 2- dish separate dessert. We sent it back. Bill was expectedly high. First time Pied Piper failed us. Will think twice before any further dinners. NO reservations and will take a chance for a bar seat. Most disappointing NYE ever.
Thank you Joel for the great whiskey sour, careful service. A dangerously inebriated woman spilled onto me at the bar. I didn’t mind the contact, but I did appreciate the rapid and dignified response from the bar team. Nice place ?

Wonderful dinner with friends at Pied Piper …
Had the salmon special which was scrumptious … ate in the front of the space which was very comfortable. The wait staff were pleasant and provided great staff! A really nice place to enjoy good food and conversation!

Had a fantastic time and utilized the private reception space in the back half of the restaurant ad hoc for a group of 10 people at 8pm on Thursday night. All the food was fantastic but the oysters and truffle fries are definite highlights. Amazing wide selection of cocktails and even some mocktails which was surprising but very welcome.
